View Full Version : Tips for looking at a used xb12s?

Hello everyone. New guy here (been browsing your forums for a couple weeks) and I've been shopping for an xb12s.

I'm going to look at one this weekend, its a 2004 with 20k miles. The miles are a little higher than others I've been looking at, but this one seems cleaner. Miles don't scare me so much, hopefully it means someone has deemed it worthy of riding alot!

what I gather from the seller:
-currently on its second owner (this guy has had it since last winter, didnt ride it much due to work
-original owner had it serviced at a dealer, and the current owner has all the records
-never been down/dropped
-runs perfect
-recently got a new belt
-needs new tires

I HAVE read the "buying guide" here on the forum. ;)
If anyone has tips/advice on what to look for specifically on an 04, and or a bike with 20k miles, it would be much appreciated.

My 2 pieces of advice are always never buy a bike at night unless you have seen it in the daylight and never buy a bike you have not ridden if you expect to ride it (except in the case of basket cases and fixers priced accordingly).

Well tires are gonna run you bout 450-500$ for Dunlops Q2. They r good duel compound tire. All i can say is go over her with a fine tooth comb and remeber bikes are not cheap to fix lol. I found out hard way lmao.

I currently own a 2004 XB12s with 21000 miles that I bought new. This bike has been the model of reliability and I heard that the 2004 models have a very good record. If there are no signs of abuse, this is probably a safe bet.

bought it.

needs tires, nothing else. very clean, full service records. he was asking 4k, i got it for a few hundred less. Thanks everyone for your help

Holy **** does it ever need new tires, bet you could balance upright on it. Great looking bike and great buy, have fun with it. Congrats and welcome to the forum
