So i dressed all up to go riding today after work for a bit, and started the bike, and took off. once i got to the main road i got on the throttle a bit, then I shifted into second, and kept on the throttle and onto third shifted to third (i wasnt gassing it enough to wheelie or anything, just some hard acceleration.) well once i was backing back down and all i noticed my engine light come on and my engine cut out.

So Like every other time i've ever had similar problems i pulled the clutch in and let it coast. The engine light went away, so i gave it a little gas and continued down the road a bit until i was cruising at about 45 or so, and keeping my speed constant. after a few seconds of this the light came back on, so i pulled over thinking my battery terminals were loose, so i checked them yet they were nice and tight.

A little fed up i babied the bike back to base/home and was just riding around the parking lot a bit to see if i noticed anything funny. Well it turns out that it runs fine through all the gears and neutral all day long as long as i keep my clutch engaged a bit, but the second i'm in gear, and let the clutch all the way out it dies no matter how much gas i'm giving it (its not just a matter of riding incompatence lol) Does anybody know if my bike is in need of a new clutch or have an idea of what my problem is?

wouldn't that make the engine light come on as soon as i kick it into gear and try to take off? the light literally doesn't come on until im cruising and let go of the clutch completely and its all the way disengaged.

or is that side stand more complex than my thinking?

They are known for shorts I the rear subframe as well. Pull codes and check all ur elt looms for rub through areas. Jump the side stand switch to eliminate that. What year is the bike?

I actually don't know who's in that area, but hopefully you'll get an offer from someone to help

well i removed the side stand switch just hoping it'd fix the problem. And my bike is running just fine again! :) thanks everybody! :D
