View Full Version : Battery recommendations

Battery slowly just died to the point of no return. As per the original owner it was the original battery from 2004. I am looking to get recommendations on what battery to get.
I have a security system and a full LED kit on my bike so I want something with a little more power than stock. I like leaving the LED kit on when at shows and such and even though I know it doesn't use much battery up I don't want to have to worry about coming back to a dead battery.
So any suggestions on a more powerful battery than stock?

I've been using an Interstate for the last couple years and can't be more happy with it. I have the box at work so I'll post more info in like 2 hrs.

Then you might want to replace it say every three years not 7. If your original one lasted that long it is highly doubtful your lightshow would drain a new battery.
If your battery lays on its side on the bike be sure to get a factory sealed one. Acid can ruin lots of things.

Just bought the Bike last October. Only owned it for one season. Don't be a dick.

I got nothin for ya. The box didn't say anything so I just went out to the garage and pulled the battery. (I've been meaning to do it anyway) The only info is the part # and that it's made out of lead. Sorry no ca or cca but I still highly recommend an interstate to anyone. I've gotten at least 3 seasons out of it (still going strong) and the last two HD batteries barely lasted 2... BARELY.

So my straight answer makes me a dick. What does that make you calling others a dick? If I bought a used bike or car the first thing I check is the date on the battery. But maybe I am just smarter than some of the new guys and you too Mr.Dicksmoker.
You asked a dumb question. Atleast I gave a straight answer. I bet money you get the manual out to change the oil next..

clearly i am no site moderator but come on guys...it's Christmas time. how about putting the sniping and bickering aside at least till 12-26. LOL
having said that, the B14-BS stock sized XB battery packs a good wallop for its size and there's very little diff in cold cranking amps between batteries of this limited size. and contrary to what the battery folks and advertisers tell you, there are only 3 battery plants in the US so whether it's yuasa, interstate, deka or a house brand...if it's lead acid it came from one of these 3 plants. all the major brands are top quality and my personal fav is either yuasa or diehard for bikes. house brands such as electra-tech and BS are also great for the money. a battery tender is your best friend IMO. can add several years lifespan to many batteries. Merry Christmas!

The date isn't on the battery. I am college educated and do have a brain. It is worn down so badly that you cannot see it. The owner said its original and I simply wanted recommendations on a good durable battery. No need for smartass comments.

yes i do go out and you're absolutely correct. LOL
you're welcome 2004xb12s. buy a batt tender and direct wire it to the battery terminals. let the connector end down by the left side under seat. that little open are under the frame where you can see into. quickly accessible and makes plug-in a snap.
