Hi everyone -

I just changed the oil on my 03 Buell last week and have been out riding several times since. I was on my way home from class today when I noticed smoke coming from my header. I quickly pulled into Autozone and noticed the oil leak coming under the header. I've got two lines running from my oil cooler and the top line seems to be leaking on the bottom line. I threw another quart of oil in it to get the bike home but can't say I know for sure where to start on the repair. I've googled a few solutions, but haven't gotten any step by step solutions. I'm handy, and have tools, but I would rather not make anything worse. Any advice on the matter, or if you could point me in the direction of an article already posted would be much appreciated.

I've posted a pic under my profile.

Thanks,
Paul

I'm guessing this could be the bikes first oil change since it is 9 years old and only has 3,800 miles on it correct?
So did you maybe over fill it?
2.5 qts in the engine with oil filter filled halfway upon replacement. Do NOT forget to prime that filter BTW.
1 qt in the primary.
Hopefully the bike seals are maybe just dried from not being rode much. Wipe it all down and ride it easy atleast until you get 5,000 miles on it.Maybe it will seal up. Doubtful but you never know.
Just my .02

I'll grab some degreaser today and see if I can narrow it down. It appears to be the top line going into the engine. But it could also be the lines rubbing together. I wasn't aware there was supposed to be anything holding the lines together, learn something new everyday.

Lesley - This is the second time ive changed the oil. Last summer when I bought the bike with 2300 miles, and then last week again like I said. I use Mobile 1 full synthetic oil, put 2 1/2 in the engine, 1 full quart in primary.
