For sale is my 2009 Buell XB12Scg Lightning.
- Single owner. - Buell engineered Harley-Davidson 1203cc Thunderstorm V-Twin motor. Fast! - The cg is the shorter shock, was hard to find especially in this color. - Cherry bomb red.
- Corbin seat.
- Cycle Shell, ride on portable shed.
It needs new front faring. Was going to do the 1125CR front swap http://www.buellxb.com/Buell-XB-Forum/Do-It-Yourself-Buell-Mods/XB-to-CR-Headlight-Conversion but haven't even rode bike more than 500 miles this season. Just had a baby and need to pay off loan on bike to buy a car.
Why it needs a front faring:
On 7/5/2010 I hit a deer doing maybe 25. Deer was not on the side of the road, it was up an embankment around a turn and jumped into the road and I drove into it. Cops said deer was like 2-250 lbs. It stopped the bike and spun it around. It was a soft slide / drop. I've seen worse drops where kickstand went out. I killed the deer, cops let me ride the bike home.
One fork tube, rear brake lever and right peg were replaced. Left side was not touched. This is important as a left side drop is the shifter and transmission! Right side is headers and rear brake.
Bike was taken to North Bergen NJ HD/Buell gone over extensively, frame not bent, above repairs and replacements done at dealer and was good to go. Clean title BTW.
Headlights were rigged up, didn't do the directionals. Wanted to do CR front clip swap http://www.buellxb.com/Buell-XB-Forum/Do-It-Yourself-Buell-Mods/XB-to-CR-Headlight-Conversion but got swamped with life and work. Only got 500 miles in this season and a few hundred when I got it back 2 seasons ago. Now I just had a baby ( well, she did all the work...) And I need to let my hobby go so I can be a dad. I also blew the head on my Volvo so she said 1 payment, bike or another car... Might need to buy another car...
About a year ago I had oil leak right side of motor, took to dealer to rule outbaccident as cause. Turns out was oil return line that was loose, dealer covered under warrantee and replaced gaskets and seals and whatnot they had to remove to get inside motor.
Only thing I added was Corbin seat. All else is bone stock. If I were keeping it I would do front swap from 1125cr, fender eliminator, led turn signals Exhaust, clip on bars. But no money to put into it. Email me if interested. includes Cycle Shell for that price, we can discuss if you don't want shell.
If you live close by, I would entertain delivery to save on truck rental.
I am in Sleepy Hollow NY 10591

Closeup of scratches current. Like I said, I didn't replace the Front, as I was going to do the CR front, I use hand signals but headlight is good.
And rim is just lip, bead has held great! no wobbles either.

Going over photos in last post.
- L Side no directional, here you can see the pipe tape I used to adjust the headlight, was just supposed to be temporary, but I 'found' an inspection sticker on the ground...
- R side no directional
- Head on, headlight in place
- replaced peg and brake lever
- header scratch and dent
- header scratch and dent from rear
- trailing arm scratch
- puck scratch
- several up close rim dent photos different angles
I don't want to sell the bike, it runs great, but I cannot afford a hobby that I don't use that often. Family comes first.
I've been as open and forthcoming as I think I should be. These images show any remaining damage I have not replaced. All repairs were done at HD/Buell.
If you're interested in just the bike, make me an offer
if you're interested in just the Shell, make me an offer.
If you just want the bike, and you're within a few hours, I'd entertain dropping it off, to save on trucking it.
It's been listed on CL for a bit, and I've gotten the usual CL people who must not actually read the posting. Or maybe they can't read...
I'm being this open because I don't want to waste your time, please don't waste mine.

Back from the UK, back to work and being a daddy... Low ball offers and people who need to "get the money" make me want to hang on to it, but no time to ride it! :( i won't go below 5200 for just bike. Not in a rush, but I haven't ridden it to keep mileage down... That may end...
What're you looking for? Where are you?

Low ballers and bailers... Debating keeping it, we will see... No time to ride with work and baby... Friend wants it, but just for the motor in a project, would be a pity to strip it so holding off... Not in a rush. I want the right person to have it, someone who will enjoy it and not kill themselves...

$5500 with cycle shell... Registration lapsed, just paid insurance... If I get low balled any more might just reregister it and keep it for weekends...

I don't think people are lowballing, but looks like a lot of work needs to be done to put it back in perfect condition. GLWS

The low balls are the craigslist weirdos... Not the people on here!
The close up shots are of the front before installing the new metal brackets, turn signals and headlight.
Pictures don't do it justice, and me being as upfront as possible took bad pictures up close.
Header is fine, no cracks, not too big a dent. Could have wrapped it like others do, but want everything to be seen. no need to replace it, and if I did it would be stock... Which the next owner is just going to replace anyway. Waste IMO.
Wheel bend is not in the bead, and isn't as bad as photo shows, but had to angle camera to show it. Happened first few months, got cut off, swerved and hit a pothole. No shakes or wobbles. 4000 miles ago.
The bike rides beautifully, when I can ride it, which is never. I'm not looking for someone to take a "problem" off my hands, if I had a job I could ride it around, to and from work, I wouldn't want to sell it. I am an audio video installer, I need to carry tools, equipment like amps and televisions and the bike isn't cutting it... Then I get home to my 6 month old, and between being exhausted and wanting to play with her, I forget its parked in the back!
I'm looking for someone who is looking to enjoy this bike. I'm not desperate, just hate it sitting around when someone should be enjoying it.
Thanks for reading.

SOLD!
Maybe if my situation improves, and I can get a job I can commute on a bike with I'll get another one... My current job does not let me do so as I have to pick up materials and equipment. And free time on weekends is non existant!
Sucks, but it is going to a friend who will actually ride it! Maybe I can borrow it occasionally... :)
Thanks for looking, good luck to everyone!
Is there a way to close a thread? not seeing anything... not sure if It's because I am typing this on my cell phone.
