I am 6'0 205 and have never owned a bike. I like the looks of the "naked" bikes and have been looking at sv 650, Ducati Monsters, Triumph Street Triples and Buell xb9s.

My questions are:
1) Am I too big for the bike?
2) Is this a good deal? http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/mcd/2988117782.html
3) Is this ok for a first bike? I dont need to be lectured, im just wondering.
4) Any other bikes you could recommend?
5) Anything else i should know about Buells? Maintenance schedules? Fuel econ? concerns?

I am 6'1 ish and 190. I ride a Firebolt with scg/low suspension which is what that bike has. I have no problems and like the look of it. It is my first "street" bike no problems these things arent hard to handle being a new rider, and are very rider friendly imo.

The price on the bike you posted is high.

im 6'2 230lbs i have owned the sv650 and now a buell xb12s. I loved my sv650 but i was just toooooo big for the bike. I still feel like im a little big for the buell but i love it and who cares what anyone says about how you look on it. If it is your bike and you love it dont worry about those other losers. Also i think that price is very high on that bike you posted i got my 2004 xb12s with 5,000 miles on it for $3850

Awesome thanks guys. Appreciate it. I think the price may be high because it is from a dealership. I will try to talk them down, otherwise try and wait for something a little better

I would do the Buell. I assume you have your eye on a particular one and have checked it out already. Let the dealer know you like the bike and are very interested but ask them if can they work with you on the price. They almost always have some wiggle room in the asking price.

The bike you are looking at is a low model S/L great bike but i have been there.speed bumps will hang up on exhaust susp.will bottom out on rough roads and if you crank up preload they ride like crap. Get a S or SS. IMO

Easy fixes, who rides over speed bumps [confused] thats why they make the gutters to go around. I have only bottomed mine out going over old railroad track crossings going to fast.

Above all and most important PLEASE BE CAREFUL.

Buells upon take off acceleration can be very sporadic and unstable. If you opt for a Buell for your first bike take things very slowly and do not ride in traffic until you are comfortable enough.

PLease sign up and take a motorcycle saftey course also.

Safe journeys to you [up]
