It's based on a gutted xb9 can. But could also be done to a 12 can. I wanted to make a muffler that needed no maintenance. Like my Jardine did. I hated having to repack the damn thing.
Here is a crappy vid. The pipe has a really deep thumping tone to it. If you turn up your bass a bit it will give you an idea of what it sounds like in person.
Iv been wanting to do this since reading Xopti post but I just need a spare can so I don't have any down time. Im thinking of making mine a duel outlet pipe.
Dual outlet would be real cool. I was looking at doing a matching right side outlet the other day. But it would be REAL close to the pulley. I'm thinking maybe dual outlet out the back of the muffler.
Im thinking of just going flat on the back where you cut to open up the back. and running two outlets off of that. Im also thinking of a way to make the washer externally adjustable with some kinda click knob that I can tune for horsepower or Torque. Just need to find something to hold up to the heat and vibration.
Maybe you can drink some more beer and figure it out Beer induced engineering rocks.
It is possible to do an adjustable washer. I did it to my immitation "drummer". You can see it in the pick. When it's on the bike it's right behind the kick stand. So you don't see it when it's on the bike. But you can still get to it to adjust it.
Tattoo72 how are you tuning stock ecm, ecmspy, remus, ect.? Also have you had a chance to dyno? If so hows your pipe doing? If not what about set of your pants dyno? BTW it sounds great!
I'm currently tuning with ecmspy and the help of Xopti http://xoptiinside.com/. I have not had it on the dyno. Seat of the pants says it makes good power throught the whole rpm range. I really like it. It is just loud enough. Plus it doesn't resonate inside my helmet like other mufflers i've had. The Latus was the worest. I couldn't stand to ride more than 30 minutes with that muffler.
Plus with this muffler there is no packing to blow out over time. Just build it, tune it and be done with it. Just get on and ride. No muffler maintenance involved.[up]
