Hey guys, I found a nice STT for sale but I've been looking for a regular lightning..what's the difference between the STT and the other XB12 lightnings? Anyone recommend a STt??

The STT has a slightly longer frame, and a different front rake. It is also a bit taller. Mechanically, they are the same. The riding geometry is alittle different. I have never been on an XB12S, but have an XB12R, and I LOVE the riding position of my STT. Would not change it for anything.

Can I take off the rear panels and put pass pegs on it then? Thanks for the info btw

Longer forks (same rake), longer swingarm, longer rear shock (different mounting point on the frame), different seat, different bars. Yes, you can remove the number plates and bolt up the XBS rear pets/brackets.
They are awesome bikes (I had one before my current S).

I rode an sTT for a few years. I loved that bike, would have never gotten rid of it, but had a kid, had to put it down towards a car.
sTT longer frame + More suspension travel = WINNING!

Rhino, the stt does have more rake. The frame is the ss frame, which has 23.1deg of rake compares to the s frame that has 21deg of rake. I'm 99% sure the R and S frame have the same frame geometry.

So can a two up seat fit too? I guess I'm curious how crossover their parts are from the other lightning, such as seats or seat rail length

The seat rails are the same to a SS so the SS seat will fit here is my STT, i have the same taste as you so i mod it a little to look like a regular Lightning

Mine had the S 2-up seat too (along with rear pegs).

Thanks--I didn't know that.
They really are great bikes and an STT will be my next bike (I miss my '07...)

The SST and the 09 and up SS are basically the same bike.
