If I bought a Ulysses id like to put a lightning tail on it. Does anyone know if it can be done? Or easily? Also what parts will I need, didn't know if I could order them from Harley or not. Need some input plus pics if ya got em!

Kinda curious why? The biggest thing about a Uly is the big ole comfy easy chair of a seat

I came across this picture while researching which Buell to buy. If you do buy a Uly & pull this off, please please please post a how-to cause I would do it in a second

Why don't you just buy an STT? It is essentially a Ulysses (albeit a hair shorter), with an XB tail section. The number plates are easily replaced with rear pegs....

I was actually inspired to start looking for a Ully. That is when I found a XB12R and couldn't HELP myself - that is what I got. BUT - I still want a Ully!!!

i bought a 2007 low mileage Uly from a motivated seller in eastern Ohio last fall and one of the most confortable best handling bikes i've ever owned. the bit of low speed surging can tend to be slightly annoying but overall an incredible bike at any price. but a bit tough to find a clean low-mileage job.

an xb12ss tail will bolt on fairly simply i beleive, but i concure with most of the posters: why loose the uly tail.. its great, u can hang bags on it, throw a low seat on, use the back rest/luggage rack, it has ahelmet lock. the bike has allkinds of useful features!

Basically I want a lightning but this Ulysses Ive found has less miles, it's newer, and a 1203..so I figure id change the tail and have a STT/Ulysses/ lightning look, idk I putt around town, I don't need bags or much of the tail..I think it looks too long. (but super comfy)

How's the Ulysses compare to a lightning? Same motor and everything just different riding position and suspension?

i like the wider bars and upright ridin pos. it feels like a bigger bike. when i sit on a lightning it feels very small. the handle great. and have great comfort for trips or slow speed cruising( i have a hard time with slow speeds @ a more aggresive riding possition)

Ya I had a xb9s and it felt small, I'm 6 foot 190 pounds, so I felt kinda big on it. Maybe the Ulysses will feel bigger and sit me up higher. I love my firebolt but I kinda wanna get something like you described, comfy for long trips, same sound of my Firebolt [up] and great for riding around town

Go for it--especially if you know of one at a great price. The Uly/SS/STT definitely feel like bigger bikes. My S started as an Scg and felt tiny. After the SS suspension swap, it feels like a nice big bike again, with great comfort and handling.
