07 lightning clutch problem

recently sold my buell and received a phone call from the buyer saying he was out on the bike and the bike wouldn't down shift for him. we told him to take it to harley and let them look at it. at first they said that the clutch just needed to be adjusted. now they are saying the clutch is burned out. the bike doesn't even have 1000 miles on it. has anyone heard of this happening?

how old was the primary fluid? did it get changed? water possibly in the primary? 1,000 miles, clutch plates are hardly broken in.

the fluid hasn't been changed. the bike was in a garage since i purchased it in 2010. not sure if the new owner has it in a garage but he hasn't had it that long.
