I followed the instructions ....took it for a ride and it's gutless now. It also dies at every stop sign. Ideas?
I specified K&N with a Hawk muffler...

Sounds like a tps reset is needed

either TPS or the learn idle, letting it idle for the full 10 min to learn the engine

Pre 08 you can't turn the throttle to do a tps reset....must be dine by ecmspy....
So, what year?

Sorry I should have specified. 2009 xb12ss. I did the ten minute idle, the instructions said that's all that's needed on an 09. Is that incorrect?

I also did the key on and throttle stuff to set the tps. Maybe I did it wrong?

I would redo the tps reset, can't hurt, make sure you hold it open/closed for a full count, I have also heard to not let it just snap closed, use a slight pressure on it to make sure it is fully seated closed

Redid the tps and idled ten minutes. Still gutlessness and dying....

Maybe I got a bad ecm? I could try the stock one again I guess.

^Yep and...yep. For the money you spent if I were you I'd make a phone call and verify that the ecm you ordered for your bike is the one you received (year, engine, exhaust, etc)

Had similar problem w/ my 08,sent it back the first time and it was improved but still not right.I called Danny at ebr and discribed the whole scenerio,he was real patient and I sent it back a second time and this time it ran great. One map fits all is hard to do nation wide, theres different altitudes, temps, and motors w/ different amounts of wear.Mine was mostly altitude because I live in Cali and live and do alot of my rideing in the foothills .It seems it was always try ing to lean it self out.I would have been happy w/ a stable idle but it runs stronger all through the tach, so talk to them and they will sort it out and you will be a happy camper.

Put my factory ecm back in, did the tps reset and ten minute idle. Runs even worse. WTF!! Ran perfect until I swapped ecm's!

Does it pop? Do anything different... Did you have the air cleaner out? Checked for leaks in the intake?

Might want to try lubing the connectors with dielectric grease and make sure the pins are all in good order.

It does pop and backfire. I had the air cleaner off awhile back yes. Not sure if I rode it after that. Ill check into that. A leaking air filter wouldnt do anything thought would it? Other than let in unfiltered air to the throttle body?
