I ran tomahawk tires on my last bike, a few sets before selling the bike and they are great. Very inexpensive and I got 5,000 hard miles out of every set(rear went first every time, but I always replace in sets).
They are a "sport" compound, not a "sport touring" compound, so they are a little stickier than a sport touring tire. I personally would rather have a stickier tire, it's a little safer. I'd rather the tire wear out at 5,000 miles instead of 7,000 if it means I have a little more grip on the pavement. And at the price of the tires, 5,000 miles is pretty good. I have pirelli tires on my buell currently(were on there when I bought it) but I will definitely switch to tomahawk when they need replaced.
People always gave me **** for running retreads saying it was very unsafe on a bike, but if you actually know a lot about the tires and the standards that they have to test them to, they are actually probably safer than "new" tires.
They are made by Desser Tire Co. who makes retread for aircraft. If you trust them on a Boeing slamming into the ground and 200+ mph why wouldn't you trust them on a 400lb bike? They are tested to the same standards.
I heard about them at a track day I attended. The guy used them on the track since they were cheap. I tried them out on the street and they are great.
