I am currently looking at buying a 04 12s with 4,4xx miles on it. It is black with gold wheels and is stock except for a rear fender kit. The seller bought it from a Harley dealer 3 years ago and is asking $4500 for it.

What is this bike worth in your opinion?

To me that's not a bad price. Has it ever been laid down though? That's 100 dollars per mile basically. Post some pics.

it could be the computer i'm on, But those tires look Huge! Bike seems to be in good shape, The headers dont look dented from a lay down. The first thing i'd do if you get it is put some frame pucks on it. [up]

All I know is that it was posted as an 04 XB12S. The seller said he bought it 3 years ago from his local HD dealer and all he has done to modify it was the rear fender kit.

Is that a bad thing?

Go look at it in person, the front wheel has been through something and it looks like a small bend on the left side when looking at the front wheel in the first pic.

I did notice that. Waiting on a reply to the email I sent the seller.

The seller told me that the front wheel has two spots where the colored clear coat is coming off, there are no other scratches or flaws on the bike, the tires are close to new, and that the lowest he can go is $4,000.

What would cause the paint to come off? Is this common?

Should I ask for the VIN# to get a report?

Impropper Mounting/dismounting of the tires will cause the powdercoat to do that. I would try to get it at $3800 just because that would drive me nuts and I would have to get a new wheel or get both repowdercoated to a diff color.

The seller told me that the front wheel has two spots where the colored clear coat is coming offYou could strip/polish the rim part of the wheels and leave the spokes Amber. I bet that'd look cool.

There are some on here who have polished the wheels out to an astounding finish. Just an idea to ponder if you do purchase the bike.

That one looks a lot like mine when I first got it. For me the mirrors and reflectors were the first to go. But I'm stupid like that.

Safe Journeys and good luck

It definitely looks like an scg...ask the seller for the "manufactured on" date that is on the VIN plate. This will help tell if it is in fact on 04 converted or a legit scg...or you can just see what the title says when you look at it.

As for price, anything around $4000 is pretty good. Mind you a replacement wheel will be a few hundred.

I just bought a 2004 xb12s with 6,000 miles for $3,200 - included was fender eliminator kit, new levers, buell select seat and jardine exhaust ---

but the fact that you are buying from a dealer is always higher --

$4,000 sounds far. I wouldn't pay $4,500 though - there are nicer ones for sale on this forum for $5,000 - way nicer.

I paid 3850 for my 2004 xb12s with 5500 miles. Mine had some hidden goodies that I didn't notice. Like an upgraded seat, k&n filter, and buell saddle bags. After selling the bags it came out to be 3600 i paid for the bike and I love it. Everyone will stare at it and pull over an ask what it is. Just don't get mad when they say nice ducati lol

Don't let a couple hundred bucks keep you from getting a nice bike. If it bothers you that much, someone looking to powdercoat anyways might trade with you. The bike's barely broken in....and lightnings are highly sought after.

Again, it would be silly to walk away over $100 on a $4k bike.... People are gonna get lucky killer deals and brag about getting it even better, right place right time with cash in hand. You'll be waiting forever for it to happen.

Buy the bike and enjoy :) You can't see the rim when you're riding by the way....

You guys were right. It is an 05 scg. I'll get some pics and start a new thread in the next few days.

I'd like to thank everyone for their input and help with my purchase!
