Does it sound like its internal? Theres only a few brackets on the bikes.....horn, clutch cable guide, coil bracket. Check your timing cover on the right side of the motor........ or even your header retaining plates.

The noise is internal,i checked all the external parts that can make the noise.
The sound seemed to come from the left side.
i will make duoble check
tnx

Check your primary chain and adjuster.......could be otherthings in there and maybe someone else will chime in with usfull infor or leads. I myself have been fortunate enough to not have to pull my primary cover yet so Im unsure of all the lil things in there.

IF it IS coming from the left side, I agree with freak...there ARE a lot of things going on in there. There is a thread going right now..."Clutch Bearing"...take a look at that. Like freak, all I've ever had to do in there is unhook and hook a clutch cable. But I do understand these little bearings do cause an issue from time to time!

Just curious, are you the original owner, have you always used RP and how many miles are on the engine? Factory rev limit?

I bet it was the Jardine that did it!! (Sarcasm again, of course!). :D
The whisper

i'm the 3rd owner of this bike. i think that the last owner used some mineral oil.

32K miles.
now i'm waitng for the shipping parts from US.
Hell it's expensive !!!! hope to be on the roads soon....
The jardine is the guilty ! i'm go beck to stock! [Yeahhh right ;);):D

Hi The whisper!
It is SO cool to be able to talk to people all over the world! And even with all the differences in our cultures we STILL have a common love.....our Buells!! If we can ever help you somehow, let us know, we will do what we are able to!! :)

Mineral oil? These bikes run so hot, air/oil cooled, they need full synthetic. Correct me if Im wrong, but I think the factory fill is full synthetic. I can see a scratch like that coming from corrosion.

Hi WIGGLE 2, :)

tnx for the Offer of help,it's the sam from my side if anybody needed for my help.
i will update soon as my bike will gat the spare parts.
GregoXB -
you'r probably rright, it's look like the damge not caused by several days.
The previous owner probably underrated the engine oil. I am always used with RP full synthetic oil.

Gregoxb;
No...factory fill is NOT synthetic. Standard petroleum oils DO work fine in these......engines were run hotter and harder than these Harley based engines,LONG before synthetics were even invented! :) I agree synthetics are an excellant choice today...but REQUIRED? No...as long as oil used is quality oil. I worked in a race engine shop for over 20 years, and in that time, I've seen engines run on BOTH petroleum and synthetic. And WHEN MAINTAINED PROPERLY, there was no dicernable difference in wear. I run Valvoline VR1 Race oil in my Buells.....20/50 in the heat.....10/30 when it gets much below 50 degrees. They've been run VERY hard...no issues in over 50,000 combined miles. :D

Hi The whisper!
Yes...please keep us updated! Are you putting in a new crank? Are the customs people in your country real hard to deal with? They probably really charge you lots of money to get things shipped in? The company I work for sends lots of parts to Nicaragua, and its ALWAYS a haslle with paperwork and customs.
The whisper
11-14-2012, 02:52 AM
Yep, new crank. i think new ring's to [I'm really not good at mechanics[smirk]].
The customs in IL is wow, very bureaucracy! alot of paperwork. the big big problem is that the consumer needed to
contact to the local dealer,to get a signature on a document that the spar part is match the motorcycle model.
As you konw the dealer is not satisfied to aprove "personal importing" . It is much cheaper for us consumers.
My mechanic does import and everything, he builds custom motorcycles,he have direct chanel to the customs.
i don't have the time for dealing with that.
i just wnna ride !!! :D:)

Hi Thewhisper!
Yes...it all sounds very familiar with what we deal with here when we send things out. It is GREAT you have a person there to help you out!! I can honestly say, what you have going on there with your crank is NOT a common issue with Buells. IF they are taken care of, they run a long time.

I'm hope so. i always treat my bikes like a "baby".
I received suggestions from friends to sell motorcycle , i don't see myself with other bikes
soory i just fall in love with my 2007 XB9 :D he is exactly what I need

I KNOW what you mean!! I'd like to get a brand new bike again someday soon, but really, nothing compares to my Buell! The sound, the feel, the look....its all so good! ALL bikes can give you problems.....my friend bought a brand new GSXR750 a few years ago, and it shattered a cam follower....pretty much destroyed the engine at 6000 miles......and Suzuki told him "No Warranty....that was abuse"!! Are all GSXR's junk? Nope.....but ANY bike can cause a problem! You won't be dissapointed once you have it fixed again!! :)
