as i was in the process of doing the breather mod...i realized that my exhaust valve actuator cable looked a lil funny...i turned the bike on and revv'd the throttle up....i realized that the actuator only works when it wants to ....is this because of all the play in the cable or does this cable look ok....also i found this hose that looks like its suppose to be hooked up to something but not really sure..any body wanna put in their two cents?http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/14415_20120921174837_L.jpghttp://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/14415_20120921174749_L.jpg

The exhaust actuator is supposed to "operate" in the mid rpm range.

Where's the hose originate? We need to know at least one end of it...

Cant tell much from the picture but are you sure thats not your breather hose? Just goes in the bottom of your air box if so

Cable should be taught not loose like that. Actuator only operates at half to full throttle via ecm control. I have pulled my cable open fully and put some vac hose to keep it from closing giving me an open exhaust from idle.no problems at all

Cable may be loose from the actuator at the exhaust then.

and from what i can tell that hose is the trans breather

the hose is the trans breather i'm guessing and the actuator is actually not connected because my jardine pipe eliminates it....sorry newbie mistake....my gsxr had the exhaust valve before the muffler and not in it..thanks again buellxb

Most people just remove them, it doesn't hurt anything to remove them. If you really want one I'm sure someone could sell you a used one as just about everyone takes them off their bike.

Welkom Deon, waar bly jy?

I recently took mine off and wired valve open (my cable was going) and with the help of lawdog on here I managed to reprogram ECM.

Simple and now I have solid power through all the revs!

I am in Cape Town by the way.

You program the ECM to turn off the valve and error checking for the valve.

Deon, send a message to Lawdog and I am sure he will be willing to talk you through it. You need to have a diagnostic cable, a laptop and level head, but it is pretty easy!

If you want to remove the exhaust valve and hardware get an ECM cable and I can show you how to turn off the valve.

It should, I guess, as it will be functioning properly.

I just took mine off (my cable was nearly toast), wired the valve open, removed actuator and reprogrammed the codes.

Now the bike has grunt and pull through whole rev range. Used to battle ate low range revs, but there is a definite change now!
