Good afternoon, all. I was going to do some work this wither on my bike, and I was going to upgrade the bearings to the tapered roller bearings. I have a great outlet locally to get Timken bearings cheap, so I will probably do both sets of wheel bearings and the head bearing since I am at 15K miles. I have already found the SKF numbers for the wheels, but need them for the steering head. Does anyone have a manufacturer's number from either the stock or an aftermarket set of tapers? Also, what are your thoughts on replacing the swingarm bearings? I bought a slide hammer for the removal, I hope it works well.
Thank you in advance!

You can look up the bearing sets on all balls website. Not sure that'll help you if you aren't buying that particular brand, but that's what I used and they are great.
Also, just FYI you don't need a slide hammer(at least for the steering head).

I just did the all balls bearings, at 17,xxx miles mine were pretty notchy. The Fsm says to use a security torx, but its possible to do the job without it.
Sorry I didn't write down the bearing numbers before I put them in, but the all balls kit comes with seals.

04 XB12R....Do the 05 XB9 bearings/breaks frame stuff fit? The only difference between the bikes is the engine right?

I believe the head bearings are the same. I know the forks changed diameters in either 04 or 05. Cross reference PN's on all balls site to check...

I went with the All Balls. They were easy to get and it was only about $125 for both wheels, head, swingarm, fork seals and shipping. I couldn't complain

Got the All balls in the mail yesterday. Bike is all torn down and cleaned ready for them. I hope to put them in tonight. They spec the same with calipers so I'm hopeful. They are definatly very well made product. Very clean and really nice machining.
