I have a 05 xb9r with 13k. bike ran fine last friday and sat until sunday cranked it up and it idled rough but seemed fine under load. just went out today ( wensday) the bike turned over and backfired thru the exhaust and would not crank. will turn over but not fire. you can smell gas. could the battery be low causing it not ot start? thanks for your help

Here's a couple of related threads: Most seem to say change plugs, make sure oil level is correct, etc. Oh, and don't let your bike idle for long periods, it'll foul the plugs fast. Anyways, hope these help.

My back had similar problems once, so I pulled the plugs on it and found out the front plug was fouled. I replaced it and its worked fine ever since. I would start there.

+1 on what oxygen said. I had the same symptoms, replaced the plugs and she was fine.

Hey thanks everyone. Changed the plugs tonight and it fired right up. Still idled a little rough but I didnt have a chance to ride it but will tommorrow. Again thanks for the help. This is the first bike I have had in several years so this is still kind of new to me

starting it up without riding it and then shutting it off is what can cause you to foul plugs. these buells are picky.

Oh and Hammer, the Iridiums are worth the $$$$.
