Has anybody ever noticed that face/reaction a lot of people have when you tell them you ride a buell? That sort of hidden disgust they try to mask coupled with an "oh, that's cool". We seem to attract this sort of hatred from both Harley and sport bike crowds. I've never really understood why they all hate Buell. Even Ducati people turn their noses up at us and they have absolutely no room to critcize with their uncomfortable/overpriced silliness. I just don't get all the hate...

My buddies who ride sport bikes busted my balls when they saw what a dog my bike was above 60 mph. They were singing a different tune when we took the bikes down the back roads. I didn't buy my bike to gain popularity. I bought it because it gives me a boner every time I crack the throttle.

Haven't met many haters, met a lot of people who don't even know what a Buell is(they think it's a cool looking bike though).
I ride with a lot of sport bikers and never got a bad impression from any of them, guess it helps when you show up for a group ride with the sides of your tires worn off.
I have met a fair amount of people that are mildly jealous of my bikes cornering ability and mpg.

This is more often the case for me. I've even had a couple people ask if it was a Bugatti...

People always try to subdivide themselves down into little "in" groups. I'm sure there are people that ride GSXR 750s that would look down on those that rode GSXR 600s.
To me, all motorcyclists are friends. : o )

Haha, if there's one thing a motorcycle should do, it's put a smile on your face every time you ride it. My 1125r definitely has a huge smile factor.

Never noticed this? Always get Nice bike or people ask these are made by harley right? My brother had some guys he rode with years ago , they all rode liter bikes and called his x1 slow but after a long ride he swapped with 1 guy. That guys girlfreind didnt want to get back on his 929! But then again im 32 and all the guys who used to ride crotch rockets have sold there bikes and no longer ride.
I've wanted a Buell for years (just got my first a couple months ago). I was chatting with a Monster owner filling up the other day, we both fired up and there was no drama on his end. Mine was shake'n and spitt'n and making small children cry...it's an experience just starting her up. I may not have the top end that some desire, but I have a butt -load of character and handling...plus, as has been mentioned before, big smiles every time. It's a very unique brand and those who snub it obviously have not had a chance to appreciate what they offer. On another note, the Buell community is right on...my kind of people.

Had a ZX-14, traded it in for a Harley. Why? I like the rumble, the shaking, the low grunt of the motor. I haven't really heard any hate about my XB, other than some punk tween who said "That's a nice piece of ****" as I rode by. Most HD guys I meet seem to have no problem with it, and one crotch rocket rider told me he had wanted one.
Ride your own ride.

The local Harley Dealer in town won't work on Buells and I needed someone to tear down and rebuild my forks for me to powder coat. So word around town is this little bike shop which are two ex-harley cert mechanics would do it. Took them in and the guy asked what they were off, told him off a Buell. He looked at them and said he didn't want to mess with them. A guy standing in the shop that just happened to be there said "that's a Harley", and the mechanic very seriously looked at the guy and said "that's not a harley".
Doesn't matter what your into, bikes, cars, mountain bikes, etc, there are always short-sided idiots out there who will never know or understand. Eff 'em and who cares.

Never had a problem keeping up with r1s on my 1125cr. I can tell it works harder at times but more than makes up for it before we hit mountain passes. I ride with ducs and r1s often with coworkers and have been plenty happy, however I do at time yearn for a fairing on the 1125r. High speed without a fairing is the only constraint.

People hate what they don't understand.Seems like the people i meet and appreciate a buell are true motorcycle enthusiasts.Last person to tell me my buell was ugly had maybe 7 teeth total. You like it is all that matters

And I long for a CR but I have an R....
So anyways I went to a Ducati dealership today and the sales guy basically insulted my Buell. Saying I won't be able to get parts after such and such amount of time blah blah blah. Then he started ragging on the EBR 1190 saying "you need a bunch of stuff to be able to race it" and that it was "too much for what you get". I brought up the Troy Bayliss 1098 and he just changed the subject.
I would have thought the Ducati guys would be my friend since we're all v twin lovers but not the case. At least a lot of the Harley people around here love Buells, several of the guys who work at our dealer ride them so they are less hated.

I think any dealer will say what they need to so they can get you off your bike and onto one of theirs... laugh them off!!
I love my Buell... and I’m not American, so there no “patriotism” or anything like that involved in my decision, I just think it’s something special and unique (from their looks to their technology) compared to all the other bikes out there.
I am quite surprised to hear you guys saying you’re treated like outcasts in the ‘States, I would have thought there would be massive support for you guys there… don’t really have that kind of thing here

I always get all the attention when we ride in a group.. we have guys with stretched Nd slammed 1000s with thousands of dollars in chrome and turbos and whatnot.. people always come up to me first and say what the hell is an ebr.( I had ebr logos on my air box). I explain and they go on there way.. everyone gets pissed.. one day this kid couldn't figure out why everyone came up to bike at every stop for gas or lunch.. I said " look at all our bike sitting there.. how many gsxr's you see, how many yamaha's kawis and so one.. there is one buell.. there is one bike that doesn't sound thesame as others.. that's what gets their attention.. he was pissed.. I haven't seen that guy on awhile.. he has a gsxr 1000 stretched and slammed and chrome on everything.. oh well I will never own anything else

Lol, I refuse to even consort with that crowd. The level of faggotry is off the charts for them. It's like why would you take a sport bike and then make it not-sporty. And then they'll have the gumption to talk trash about Harleys when their bikes are abhorations that need to be burned in sacrificial fires as an apology to the motorcycle gods.

Agreed. Reminds me of that video I saw of some dude that stretched the swingarm of his Hayabusa about 5 feet or so and then put TWO what looked like 300 wide tires on it. WTF are these people thinking?

They're no good at riding, so they try do everything they can to make the bike un-rideable so they have an excuse why they can't keep up.

Don't cry about haters especially if you're a hater yourself.
I personally don't give a **** what you ride and don't give a **** what you think about what I ride.

My cousin and her husband give me **** about my Buell all the time. Neither of them have ever owned a MC but swear HD is the only bike worth having. Funny thing is, if you saw them out in public, you'd swear they had at least one considering they have HD tattoos, HD t-shirts, HD boots and HD leather jackets. They dress like hard core bikers ALL the time....

I'm suprised by all the supossed hatred towards Buells. I've been a multiple Bueller for 6 1/2 years and have always gotten positive and inquisitive responses. I guess the only negative comment I've encountered was when I bought my 08 STT at the HD/Buell dealer and a leather clad, dew rag wearing little lesbian chuckled and said "nice beginner bike"! My salesman quickly responded by saying "it would beat the **** out of her bagger". She just walked away.:)

Buell owners are really the only cool people I know, because we aren't extreme. I've always loved HD, I always will. If I'm ever going to own a cruiser it will be an HD, and no I don't consider my sportster a cruiser [up] . The extreme element of HD owners is preeeetty gay, since it coasts off of what real bikers were and totally destroys the image, but look at sport bike riders. I love watching stunt riders and all that stuff but the extreme urban ghetto side of it is just as retarded as HD fanboys. I'm talking about the guys with clown vomit icon gear, monster stickers all over their bikes, flat brimmed baseball caps, saggy jeans, and listens to rap or some kind of genre with a -core at the end of it.
Both of these kinds of people seem to hate us, because we're the only ones who are in between. We have sport bikes powered by power plants that have existed since 1957, and the 1125s had more attention paid to ergonomics than pure track use so they don't turn out the numbers that an r1 will.

So far everyone I have run into loves my Bolt. Had a few look it over then when I fire it up they look shocked then love it LOL. Had a guy on a newer customized R6 pull in when I was leaving chili's the other day tell me I had a beautiful bike. I told him I liked his R6 and he responded "I hate it" lol

I've heard it all, nice bike, thats cool, what is it, is it fast, is it as fast as it looks, that's really small, you look too big for that bike, thats a piece of ****, is that your wifes bike, etc. Harley bikers are split, some love it, some hate it, sportbike crowd 80% talk ****, ADV / BMW cyclists say its too shaky, loud, finicky, and unreliable.
My take, I love it, I love the rarity, the simplicity yet the technology and outside the box innovation. The ergo's and handling and the character it has which makes it an individual. Even within its own breed, Each Buell has his/her very own personality. Pretty trick. She's not the fastest or shortest braking or most expensive but she gets all the looks, pics, and questions at any stop, and she has my heart.

One time I was at a party and the guys gathered around my bike while I revved it. The hottest girl broke from her friends mid conversation, walked across the lawn and right up to me, just to make sure I knew she was there. Some where in her mind she knew the sound of her father's Harley and her vagina said, this boy is the man. That night ended well, very well.

I left Buell for BMW only to come back to Buell. Since the closure I've met 7 BMW guys that bought Buells and absolutely love them. They've all said they didn't really understand what Buell was but they do now.
