With everything that needs to be done, I think early to mid summer will be the best case senario, and 2014 models being the worst case senario.

AND in a related story Harley-Davidson Motor Company to file federal copyright suit against EBR, inc. and Erik Buell. According to Harley company spokeswoman Samanth Blowhard....."We have warned Mr. Buell twice this year that "his" V-twin exhaust note is too reminiscent of "our" V-twin exhaust note. We believe he is in violation of our "patent-applied-for" potato-potato sound and request that he cease and desist all production until the matter is resolved in court."

They better hurry up cause every year that goes by the new buyers out there wont wait too long before they go to other motorcycle brands. EBR needs to hurry up and bring something out in the competitive price range and keep the Buell fans that they have.

I'm one of them.... the longer i have to wait, the more likely ill get a KTM/Ducati streetfighter.

I used to be a harley fan. wtf. I want a cruiser (streetglide) but i think i would go with a different brand in spite of harley. $20-30k for one of their bikes and then half the cost of the bike for clothing and accesories. On top of it all they wanna pick fights with Mr. Buell. Its no wonder foreigners are taking over our country.

Harley sued S&S back in like '05 but I have yet to see or hear anything about Harley suing ebr. Plus, I highly doubt that that will go over well in court

Exactly! There is some good product out there from established brands that undercut his price targets.

The exhaust note is too similar? [confused] Seriously? Whether it's true or not, some of this stuff coming from HD toward Erik is starting to seem childish. It's like Oscar the Grouch suing Kermit the Frog over being to close to his shade of green.

I agree with onelogue and WALLSXB. I understand that getting a production bike going is quite a process, especially when you keep facing setbacks and various challenges, but if something doesn't come out within the next year it's going to start getting pretty hard to sell the bikes when people are moving on to other established brands. I can't see letting go of my XB, but having the backing from an established company is part of the reason why I looked heavily at the Triumph Street Triples.

For some reason, Americans don't give American bikes much of a chance (Buell, EBR, Motus and Confederate come to mind). Anyway, I better stop before I get on a soapbox and write a full page.

This evening I went to the International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach CA. EBR had a small booth. I spoke with someone about their plans for releasing the next models. He said the three new bikes will be (1) a street version of the 1190 RS, (2) a StreetFighter 1190, and (3) a Dual Sport.

He said they are going through major testing right now and are planned for an Oct 2013 release date. The bikes will be 2014 models. He said they don't want to rush them into the market without really pushing them hard all year on the road and making sure they are super dependable.

They are using their own EBR motor based on the Rotax engine. They are putting that beast in the street-version superbike 1190 and the StreetFighter 1190. I didn't as any questions about the Dual Sport because I wasn't interested in it. He said the StreetFighter will not be tuned any differently than the street version superbike 1190. It won't have different timing (like most manufacturers do when they come out with a SF version of their superbikes). I didn't ask if the motor was any different in the race bike compared to the street bikes.

Erik is going to create high-quality powerful bikes, and that's going to create lots of loyal fans! They are going to get off to a great start in October. I can't wait!

So true but of the listed brands buell is the only one ive ever seen on a showroom floor. I would love to buy a motus but other than a article in cycle world ive never heard of them. Not to get into a rant but in order for a usa made product to sucseed , it seem we have to import everything from foreign countries and build it here. Its sad but our work force has been ruined. Someone can make more money sitting on there fat ass and breeding all day. Than if they were to get up and work . Or government rewards people for being iresponsable . Guess I went on a rant anyway , sorry bout that . It would just be nice to buy a American product that was affordable and actually made here.

winnetka got it right. I spoke to them at the bike show yesturday too. I was so stoked to see em there. They said they are releasing obviously their flagship 1190 first, and maybe their HERO 1190 with it. But any other model either the street fighter or dual sport won't come out untill maybe 2014 and the year after depending on how the HERO 1190 does and the demand. So whip out your Buells brothers and sisters! Time to really get the word out so people looking into new bikes think about getting Buells!

If my memory banks serve me correctly, Harley DID actually file for a trademark or something on their V-twin sound.

Edit: oops. I missed where someone already said this.

I went there on Sunday and spoke with Jim Dorman, the VP for EBR sales. I talked engine design with him for about 30 minutes and mentioned designing engines for them would be my dream job. He handed me his business card and said they were hiring! Oh man, too bad I just joined the Air Force! He said they have big plans for the future and later on down the line Erik is interested in designing inline-3 and maybe 4 cylinder engines. I would love to see and EBR inline 3 to compete with the Triumph Speed Triple, those things sound awesome!

The new factory for production of the 2014 1190RS is estimated to create over 200 new jobs in WI. A lot of the stuff that they were importing from other places will now be built in-house, locally, or in the US because they bought the technology and designs for it. They are trying their best to be a TRUE All-American made bike!

the transverse 3 and 4 configuration has been done to death. it might just be me but there's something very viscerally pleasing to my eyes and ears about a V-twin though i hear ya blaylock.....those brit triples DO sound sexy.

hmmmm can I hold on long enough for a EBR duel sport .....Well I guess like always down here we will wait a year longer and have all that red tape and hoops to jump through government bull**** before a bike can land and be sold in Australia.

If they do go on to make inline 3 or 4 cylinder bikes, I hope they stick with at least one or two v-twin powered models. That's the reason I got into Buell in the first place: and now with this 1190 they've got, they're competitive in the power department while still being ahead in every other area. I will be supremely disappointed if EBR doesn't come out with an 1190-powered street fighter. I'm dying for a modernized, more powerful version of my lighting. The gauges and controls are so antiquated and there is just nowhere near enough power, yet those two things are still worth the sacrifice for having everything else I want out of a motorcycle that nobody else can seem to offer so far.
