I need something fresh

I'v been on the Buell since '08 and I love it. But it's starting to feel stagnant, I need something fresh and new, or something to change up my normal riding experience. I'v been lusting after a Sumo for years now, but there is no way in hell the wife will let me add a 2nd bike to the stable right now. So my options are to spice up the Buell somehow or get rid of her and pick up a Husqvarna SM511...

What got me thinking all this was working down in California I got a brand new Nissan Altima for my rental car. It had like.. 1,400 miles on it and had been driven to Sacramento from Arizona. It had a nifty lil feature that let you see the average speed the car has been driven, when I got it, it was 28mph. Even with 50+ miles of 80+mph freeways every day for weeks I only got the average speed to 35mph.

It got me thinking, I bet the average speed of my Buell is less than 40mph with all the in town commuting and short rides I take, and that seems wasteful. But what bike would be the most fun at speeds less than 40mph? Well that would be a Sumo my friend.

Iono, I'm in a bind, I really can't ever see myself giving up the Buell and not regretting it for the rest of my life. But for my riding style it just doesn't seem to fit perfect. I just know Ill miss the power, the uniqueness, the sound, the everything..

My thought - Keep the buell, get another bike. Remember this when it comes to your wife, Its easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission.

It's easier to BEG for forgiveness than it is to ask permission. Been married 23 years, there is alot of begging involved.;):D

+1 for the sumo around town. Plenty of low speed fun, been there. Of course, my KTM dual sport was also a blast with full knobbies and light weight it doesn't take much to slide any turns in town! Then again I very nearly highsided it a couple times right in town so maybe not the best idea after all unless you have better self control. Wenatchee might not be as forgiving.

I've asked for forgiveness several times! :D
All she does is roll her eyes and say "Why did you need another bike?" Works every time so far. Wait till I find a 2010 firebolt or a CR. That might be the day I get divorce papers served to me.

Red i envy you, if not an EBR in the near future i want a 9s and a CR ill be happy.

If you really want different, check out my other favorite place to lurk http://www.vft.org/vftforsale2.html . Always cool projects surfacing there, maybe look for a Yamaha XS650 street tracker as they pop up often for cheap or a street track Sportster as they can usually be had reasonabley. I am currently building a vintage Triumph street tracker for a town pig for myself.
