I just did a tps rest on my 04 with a race ecm. I followed the DIY video on set the initial TPS value at 5.5%. After a warm up and setting the Idel it moved up to 6.9%..... is this ok and an I just over thinking stuff?

Did you take the bike for a slow ride (under 3000rpms) in closed loop?
Or did you just let it warm up to 180deg?
Also did your idle go up? At 6.9% i would think the idle would be at around 1500-1700rpms

I always just take her out and ride for about 10 min after the tps reset, keeping it under 3k.
What do you mean by closed loop ride Squid? Do you mean continue to keep ECMspy hooked up while you ride?

Your overthinking it. As long as you set the reference to zero when the throttle is closed, then your fine. That's all you are doing when you do a reset is setting a reference of zero with the blade closed. After that, setting the 5.5% is only a starting point so it will idle. At that point adjust your idle where you like it and ignore the position numbers as they no longer are in reference to the reset, just showing how far open the blade is. It is no different than opening the throttle and watching the throttle position change.
