I have an 03' XB9SL and have a line on a belt, tentioner, front, and rear sprocket for $200 shipped. They are off a wrecked 05' XB9X with 15K before the motor went. From my understanding this is the upgraded set up and the belt will "outlast the bike". I feel like this is a good oportunity to get the newer set up but wanted to check with the board to get some more experienced opinions. Will all this bolt right onto my 03', and do I need anything else? Thanks!

Yes, it will bolt up to your bike. It however will not outlast your bike. You wont be able to use your belt guards. If you want to run guards you'll need ones off of an '04-'05

good deal on the parts, agreed... '03 belt guards will not work with that set up, remove 'em. But I'm curious about what issues, if any you're having with the original belt or are you just upgrading to avoid any problems?

Thrstrmech, I snapped the original a few weeks ago. Got stranded and ended up walking it back home about 2.1 miles. Bummer deal. Do you guys think running a used belt is okay?

Thanks for all the help guys, I will probably give it a go. I am however a little apprehensive about running a used belt.

Â* I am however a little apprehensive about running a used belt.

I would be apprehensive too. To me it'd be kind of like changing the oil with used oil.
Why go to the trouble of replacing the belt with a used one? Particularly when you don't know its history. Was it exposed to sun, oil, harsh cleaners? Was the P.O. hard on it? Wheelies? Drag racing? For the cost of a new belt (<$200) I'd just go for a new one.

LSHD1.com $145 and change for the new '03 belt P/N: G0500.02A8R, it's an graded belt, the original ended with .02A8F

Yeah that lshd1.com is a good deal. I was going to go that route until I found this deal and now I can't decide what makes the most sense.

The upgrade is good to do from what i hear. A lot of people do it so that should tell you somthing i guess. I would do the upgrade but throw a new 04 and up belt on it too.
