Finally after not riding a motorcycle for 2 months because of a broken right clavicle. I finally rode my first Buell that I purchased 3 weeks after my accident and have been staring at everyday wishing I could ride her for the first time today. It was the first thing I did after leaving the hospital today. My orthopedic doctor reviewed my x-rays, said the bone has somewhat mended together, but hasn't completely healed yet, hasn't even formed a callus over the fracture yet. Also said I wouldn't need a sling anymore and I should prob start using my arm and shoulder again to get movement back, but obviously no heavy lifting or activity. So I asked him if it was good enough to ride again, he simply said, he won't tell me I can't ride, but he's not going to tell me I can ride either. So as always I took that as a good to go ahead. I think I'm ranting on a little too much but I can't help it. Maybe it's just because I haven't ridden in 2 months, or my new 2007 Buell xb12SCG is the most awesome bike I've ever ridden in my life, and I've ridden a lot of different bikes. And I didn't even push her that hard. I was taking it super easy all day today, considering my clavicle is still fractured and I haven't used it in 2 months. But back to the point, this is the first time I've ever ridden a Buell and man, what an experience! I'm mad it took me so long to discover these machines. Overall, they weigh a little more than your average sport bike, but definitely does not feel like it. She handles like a dream, it just blew my mind how easy it was for me to move her around. My collar bone is still broken, yet I had no trouble maneuvering her. It actually still felt easy to move around then any other bike I've ridden even when I was in better health. In the higher speeds, it almost feels like, It's hard for me to explain in words, she just moves anyway I feel like moving. I've never rode on a bike for the first time and immediately feel like it was apart of me already. Normally it takes me at the very least a good 15-30 minutes of riding before I get extremely comfortable on a bike I've never ridden before. So when I pulled her out, I had a buddy close by in case anything happens, and I went through my usual warm up routine whenever I haven't ridden in a while. Just some basic low speed maneuvers like u-turns, figure 8's and stuff like that to get familiar with the bike. But immediately it already felt so easy. Caught me off guard, so just to be sure, he got on his bike and went for a short lap around the block real quick. Still, it felt so easy, besides the speed. I don't think I actually ever rode a quicker bike, scared me a little. Which is good, I like my bikes to scare me a little at first till I learn how to work with the power. But she just felt so natural. So I said screw it, lets go for a ride. And man did we have a blast. I got some shifting issues though unfortunately. Apparently my bike came with the riders pegs offset by 1", and I didn't realize that when buying the shift side peg to replace the broken one. So right now I'm riding with one 1" offset peg, and 1 regular peg. So I guess it puts my foot at a weird angle so it makes it extremely difficult to shift. Anybody got a left side 1"offset peg they would like to trade? Anyways, I'm so excited right now, I'm going to try to sleep so I can ride again first thing tomorrow. HOLY CRAP THESE BIKES ARE GREEEAATT!!
