Went to my local Basha's (food city, Kroger, what have you) saw a bike thought to myself out loud lets see what we got...typical vstar bleh something was special about this one. Went in milk cookies etc, upon closer inspection notice this "gem"

LOL. i would imagine though that he gets incredible mileage out of one. cornering capabilities might be another thing all-together.

i just watched that in a different topic, beyond stupid! Nearly tipping when the most minimal maneuver is made.

They call it going to the dark side, I have a few friends who say that if you do this it is far better for rolling the highways for long distance.

Haha, I remember the first generation of Boss Hoss bikes also came brand new with a square-section car tire on the rear.
I recall it looked extremely unstable on road irregularities and rolled curbs.

I plan on doing that on my chopper project. If it goes well I might do it on my Harley.
Try to ask the owner how many miles he has on that tire. I'm guessing that Goodyear has about 20k miles on it or more and those vtx1800's eat rear tires fast. I have ridden a car tire vtx and the biggest draw back was it wanted to follow the crown in the road and it gently pulled towards the outside of the lane. Corners where little different since these bikes will grind floor boards well before you are in danger of running out of tire. Just my personal experience. I was going to put a car tire on my own vtx but found a set of avon venoms on sale for just a few bucks more than the one car tire and I am dangerously close to needing to sell all my bikes so I went bike tire for the sake of insurance liability.

because tire manufactures spend millions on motorcycle tire R&D... I'll use a car tire... Doesn't make much sense to me... I'd think a load range E would last even longer [smirk]

@d adams: Wow, that video is frightening! it clearly shows how the contact patch is dramatically reduced when cornering; just when you need it the most [confused]
I'd think a load range E would last even longer
I think your'e right firefighter, but I'll bet a steel banded wagon wheel would last even longer :p
