So anyone have thoughts on the new Vette officially released yesterday?
Personally I like the back half, can't stand the front half, love the rear end, and the interior is the typical 'eh' vette interior. I haven't liked a vette interior since 1982. Can't deny the performance is pretty sweet.

Not a fan of the flipped Camaro tail lights. Not sure how I feel about the front end yet, either, but I like the hood and the roof design. I'm a Corvette fan and I'm not really feeling this one.
Maybe I need to see it in person and drive it... :D

Lost its "originality" and has to many other makes in the design. I see some Nissan GTR, 370Z, Ferrari 599 and From a 3/4 rear view with the top removed it has some Pontiac Soltice Coupe to it. And WTF is up with that rearend? I haven't really thought about this as you can tell. :D

Definitely a Ferrari front end. Not that I mind a Ferrari front end, but not on a Corvette - maybe a Ferrari.
The back-end looks like a chop-job. The Camaro tails need to go.
The overall shape in the 3/4 pic is very reminiscent of the last (current?) generation of vettes, however I feel that either the roof line is too low or the rear fender is too high - I personally think it's a little of both.
So, take away the 'rari front end, Camaro back end, raise the roof/lower the fender and you have....the exact same thing as what's on the market today.

I think corvettes are for old dudes trying to live like young guys. And I ****ing hate working on them (I love GM by the way) they are absolute whores to repair. As far as the looks, its ok looking, but as others have said it resembles other cars.

I can't get into all the sharp edges, creases ( like most cars now) and Pep Boys looking vents. Really don't think it will age as well as some of the previous generations Corvettes have. I like the new SRT Viper a lot better. [smirk]
Since this is suppose to be the new sting ray vette i think it needed to have more rounded edges but i like it other then that.

Ill take a 2013 GT500 over that any day!
Plus the Shelby has a back seat for kids and hisses when getting on it :-)
I have a Chevy now (Silverado) but over the past few years I've lost that Chevy love I once had.

I've never really got the apeel of corvettes! There to pretty . They are just missing aditude . Don't get me wrong there bad ass as far as performance goes . But has anyone ever seen one and said to yourself wow he must be a bad ass! There always a middle-aged douche with to much money and a tiny dong. Also I've never seen one that stood out they all look the same.
But hey different strokes for different folks. I like the camaro better myself.

Just read specs... 450 horsepower.
Really, that's all you can come up with Chevy ???
This big bad reveal for a goofy, Ferrari looking car that should say hot wheels on the bottom of it and only 450 HP.
Ill stick with the 650 HP Shelby.....

Good to know your packin walls! Still think the corvette is a compensation tool. There are always exceptions to every rule of coarse. I'm thinkin your mothers father may have passed on those genes judging by your fathers taste in cars though!

It's a refreshing design given the similarities of the C5/6.
The front profile/headlight shape/air scoop are almost identical to the new viper -there is a pic on google which compares them...way to similar for coincidence.
The lower half of the rear end as well as rear end side lines are pathetic..definitely ran out of time/money/imagination on those hard square lines given the flow and curviness of the rest of the body.
Definitely alot of italian/ferrari 430/458 influence in the design of both the exterior as well as the interior. Straying away from the "std cheap domestic" look and feel as before. I think this a step in the right direction for Chevy given the American preference for imports and exotic sports cars.
To rah7777: you can't compare a 450hp base vette to a shelby gt500: not apples to apples. This is the base model with VVT and cylinder deactivation, I'm sure Chevy has big power plans to dominate the current market as it has done with nearly every recent Vette platform.

you can compare a 450hp base vette to a shelby gt500 when they are about the same price....
the vette is a sports car, the mustang a muscle car... id take the mustang any day of the week....

Really, that's all you can come up with Chevy ???
It's the base model...
Just like currently they have the base model which has something like 400-450hp, then the zo6 which is something around 500-550hp, then the zr1 which is around 640hp.
What's fascinating is that each of these models are not the same car with a different engine, they are actually three separate cars(from the frame up) that share interiors and some body panels(and other things, of course). But when you see a base model next to a z06 next to a zr1 they are three very different cars.
I'll also say I don't really like this new refresh. It's ok(keeps the same overall styling) but makes it look kind of weird. I liked the last generation with the more bold/square look. It was probably the best overall vette made. Many people complain it wasn't "fancy" enough, but I thought that was a good thing, more like a sleeper. The more that it resembles a ferrari, lamborghini, etc, the less I'll like it.

I like it, I definitely see some inspired by ferrari design aspects, but I think it still looks sharp, I definitely wouldn't complain if one was parked in my driveway. That being said, They most definitely built it up way too much in their advertising and teasers and everything because it really isn't too terribly different from the current generation of corvette, I know they're trying to bring back the Stingray design, but they're gonna have to give this one another shot.

It really does nothing for me. Not because it’s an unattractive car (it’s actually quite the looker from most angles [up] ) but because it just looks like every other “supercar” out there. It really does look like they just took various aspects from different cars (including the blatant-copy Viper front end) and blended them all together. No originality, no distinctiveness. :(
I do have a few other complaints too.
My biggest criticism, from the pics I’ve seen anyways, is that the interior is AWEFUL! It has a few tasty bits but for the most part it just SCREAMS “low rent”. It was especially appalling in red. [down]
Also, those Camaro-ish taillights look like a desperate attempt to create “brand identity”. Their cheezy looking, just like they are on every other car they’ve tried to incorporate them on (Malibu anyone?) They ruin the back of the car for me.
One more thing, 450hp is not impressive for a “sports car” any more. Not when a Mustang/Camaro/Challenger can be had at ½ the price with 400+. Heck, even pickups are pushing close to 400hp now. 450 just insn't an impressive number, even if it is enough to get a lightweight car moving quite well. of course, 450 is plenty to go 54mph in the slow lane so their core demographic will be pleased. ;)
I think the Vette should start out with 500 or so and go up from there.
To all of those who don’t like the sharp edges on the rear. That’s actually an aerodynamic feature. Those sharp edges help the airflow break away cleanly from the rear of the car and reduce turbulence in its wake. They do look a bit “off” with the rest of the car but they at least have a function.

For some reason I think it looks better in this picture, just a better angle...

I think some people just hate GM and/or vettes lol. They say it looks too plain jane, like a regular car. So GM makes it look more like a supercar and then people say it looks too much like a supercar.
I don't really care for this model but it's still nice. And yeah 450hp might be the new standard for most sports cars and muscle cars, but the vette still has a lot more that the other cars don't have(suspension, drivetrain, etc.). And a base model vette can be had in the $40k range IIRC. Have you seen prices on mustangs, camaros, challengers, etc lately!?!?!?

Bizarre.....without any badging, if you did not tell me it was a Corvette, I would not know. Of course that applies to all of them over the last 20 years worth as well. Calling it a Stingray makes it even worse.

What other car looks like a corvette???? The C5 and mainly C6 were the best looking vette made, I think most people have that opinion as well. The 80s/90s sucked(C4 IIRC) but even then it wasn't horrible, just plain jane. The 1994ish zr1 was an incredible car in it's time, something like 450hp IIRC, when every other "muscle car" or "sports car" had like 200hp.
