Header stud question

So I broke a stud awhile back. I got it fixed and I'm assembling it now. How far are the studs supposed to stick out. The unthreaded part that is a little over half way down the stud. On the rear it's all the way down to the head. And the front it's not like that. I have it threaded in the right way. I'm just wondering if I should tighten it down more or if it'll be good like that. I would hate for it to snap from over torquing it.

Just checked on my 9, it's sticking out about 1" from the head for the total bolt length, didn't look hard enough to see where the threads started at on the stud though.

Ok mine is sticking out about an inch and a quarter. I'll be sure to tighten it up. Thanks man
