View Full Version : Questions about Race ECM

Does anybody know the details of what the race ECM does exactly? What is the AFR for example? I'm assuming it runs richer but I'm just curious. Also, I loaded the race ECM on my bike, runs great, however it does not run great until it enters closed loop or warms up sufficiently. Is that normal? It always idles very rough at first and will even kill every now and then, but only once. Even bogs down on first decent pull of the throttle but after that it's great. Any input is greatly appreciated.

What exhaust do you have?

Reset your TPS.

I did, but come to think about it, I may have done it before I loaded the ecm. I'm gong to go try that now and see how it runs. Anybody know what the air/fuel ratio is for the race ECM?

The AF ratio depends on what rpm you are running and how much the throttle is open. For idling you would want to shoot for 14.7:1 - 13.2:1.

I know what the ideal is but I don't know how to modify it. That's why I am wondering what the race ECM is programmed to.

You sure you have the correct race ecm for your year/model? Let's start in the basement with the year/model bike and the p/n on the ecm and work our way up from there

It's an 03 XB9s. I used the race ECM from ECMspy. Once it's warmed up after riding around a couple of blocks she hauls ass. I have no idea where to find the p/n for the ECM.

Get your bike warm before you do your tps reset.

So to be clear, you DON'T have a race ecm, you have a stock ecm with a race map? I'm by no means any authority on ecmspy, there are quite a few other members who are though.
Did you save a copy of your stock .bin file before you uploaded the race map? Did you load the entire map or just the fuel maps? What's your AFV at right now? If I remember it needs (?) to be reset to 100%

I flashed the entire EEProm not just the maps. I saved all my previous stuff. Warmed the bike up before the TPS reset too. AFV is at 104.5%. I did reset it to 100% at one point but it went back up for some reason. Which I think means it is running richer correct?

I believe you should do just the maps not the entire eeprom. I'm not an authority on it either but I think just maps.

If you do just the maps I'm rather certain it may not agree with your firmware therefore I did the entire thing. I reset the TPS and it runs phenomenally well now.

So...does anybody know the Air/Fuel ratios?

After resetting my TPS she runs like a dream. Revs so quick and aggressively once you hit 3K RPM. No more bogging out during warms up either. I still wish I knew the AFR though.
