Took the 1125 for the first long ride today. Title says it all. The only down side to this one over the xb 6 gears. I keep forgetting and start off in second gear. Otherwise yeah what a fricking awesome bike.

I wouldn't mind a sixth gear on my xb. I bought the cr primarily for the 50 mile commute to work on the freeway. I don't like riding the xb for extended periods at high Rpms so this was my compromise add a cr to my garage. Of course now I have the dilema of which beast to throw a leg over. Since I don't go much over 80 mph I am pretty happy with the cr. And since dean just sent me my new exhaust I am looking forward to the growl of this beast.

That's funny, I find myself wanting to shift to 7th as well, and I have a 09 model with the gear indicator. :D

I have an 09 with the gear indicator too but I immediately turn it to the voltage output due to previously having the stator bs. Just paranoid haha.

imho XB could use 6th gear whereas 1125 does NOT need it unless you are trying to set speed record at Boneville. I own one of each and riding XB after 1125 you definetly feel the lack of power (especialy after 75mph or so) and 6th gear might help you keep up with highway rush-hour traffic. On the other hand 1125 will go 90mph in 5th at around 5000rpms which leaves you with roughly another 5500rpms to the red line and extra gear
p.s. if any forum member wants 6th gear, Im willing to part it out for $100

its just nice to cruise at lower rpms. my car has a 6th gear but top speed is in 5th for example.

...Talked to a Ducati sport bike owner...said he never uses 6th unless he takes it to a track...I never do track time...too old and a bit rider conservative for that...

Does he never go on any type of longer ride? We have lots of roads around here that arent terribly exciting where its nice to cruise at lower rpms. 5th and 6th are generally pretty close anyway. If anything you are less likely to use 6th at a track because you want to be riding at peak power the entire time. It must be a pretty fast track to use all of 5th gear.

I stuck mostly in between 2nd - 4th when I was at the track on my 600 ... of course it redlines at freaking 16k ... Hahaha
