Well still having electrical issues. Been on the phone with Rick at Ricks electric and we are thinking it is not my VR.

My stator went out a while ago and was rewound and reinstalled. After about 3000 miles now when I start the bike as soon as I go above idle I get system voltage but it is an OVER voltage not a drain. I let it idle and as soon as it gets to operating temp and the fan kicks on the dash and headlight come back on. If I turn it off and back on it will run perfectly fine and charge perfectly fine until the bike cools off again and it will repeat. I've replaced the battery and have done 3 different VR's so it shouldn't be an issue with either of them. I pulled the stator over the weekend because I was getting a knock and had a loose rotor nut and two of the stator bolts have come loose. I put a new nut and locktighted everything and it is all back together and running perfect again except this issue is still there.

Anyone have any ideas on this? Seems weird how it runs fine after the fans kick on.

I just posted on your original tread cause I was wondering how far you got with this... anyhow fans have pretty large current draw so when they kick in they will drop your voltage and cause your high voltage to drop to normal levels or somewhere around there.
I suggest you get electrical trouble-shooting flow chart from the service manual and follow it. Forget everything you did so far and start fresh with clear mind and dont assUme.[cool]

I've posted this over on badweb but they keep saying VR but I've put three on and the symptoms never changed and I figured if it was that it should work then blow since it went 2000 miles with no issues after the stator rewind. And if I need to upgrade that why are there so many people who did the rewind and rotor upgrade with no problems on the stock VR. Just doesn't make sense to me why my bike is any different. I'm horrible with electrical so I'm going to see if a friend can help me determine how all my grounds are doing and if there is any breaks in any circuits anywhere. I may just deal with it for 2000 more miles when it will be time for a valve check and pull the frame to check the valves then go over every wire to see if any are messed up.
