traction grips

I can't believe that a go-getter hasn't reverse engineered these grips at this point. If some people are willing to spend over a $100 for grips that originally cost $16, then it stands to reason that a lot of people would spend $30 for grips that were essentially the same thing.

twin motorcycles said they plan to do replicas down the line but its way down the line.

It probably has to do with the cost of tooling for a relatively low cost product. You'd have to sell a lot of these before you'd make any profit at all...

Ok, I hope I dont get beat up over this, but what is so special about the traction grips? I am fairly new to buell, have owned mine for a little over a year, and have seen these things sell for quite a bit. Just curious.

They certainly are over-hyped, but I do quite like them. When my OEM grips finally were too used to continue, I searched for decent replacements. I found a set of new traction grips and gave $40 for them. After installing, I wasn't sure the hype was warrentied as they were shaped a bit weird and took some getting used to. Now, ~7,000 miles later, and I'm certainly not looking forward to the day I need to replace them. The profile of the grip combined with the materials used leads to a near perfect grip in my opinion. The shape is optimal for your hand and is extremely comfortable.
