OK so tell me if I'm crazy..... you guys know me I hate paying for stuff when I can build it myself..... not saying there isn't some great exhausts out there I just want something no one else has..... so I was looking online he other day and something dawned on me.

I have a jardine exhaust right now and while I like it..... it isn't the sound I want. So anyway the jardine elbow is a 2.25" pipe. So I was lurking around summit racing.com and found exhaust tips for 2.25" pipe and dual exit..... some even have mufflers in them well resonators anyway...... I found this one I like...

And then weld on tips to exit out each side......

http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i209/greasemonkey85/jex-jtd112_w_ml_zpsd9aa9f2b.jpg

The tip is 2.25" inlet with dual 2.5" exits and the the mufflers are 2" id so it should work pretty good. This is what the inside looks like.

I can do this for around $75 shipped to my house and a little welding to finish it up. The y pipe looks pretty decent..... so I'm not extremely worried about flow....

What do you guys think?

Not crazy.
Give it a try. [up]

JMO but you seem to spend a lot of time and money making stuff you don't end up liking. Might want to think it over for more than a night. I don't think it's a bad idea necessarily, but just sit on it for a while and revisit it. You ran your last exhaust that you made for how long? 1 month?

You know, if you save your $$ for a bit longer, I'll be happy to build you one that I guarantee you'll like. I also have the chin fairing brackets in hand, I think I've got 6 sets left.

Seriously, what's not to like about this one?

Dean your header setup is on my list for this winter that's why I posted before I spent lol.....

My bike has almost everything I can think of done now it's big stuff..... I'm talking $500 + mods.....

I do like the reverse setup and since no takers in sale I'm probably going to sit downand completely redo it using all stainless and just one muffler on one side instead of trying to make it look like two mufflers. No one even cared to look at it with the jardine pipe in it.... but my reverse pipe got lots of attention. And I loved the sound but it probably needs tuning and at the time I didn't know much about tuning but now I do and I got the jardine running awesome..... no loss in torque down low and no decel pop.... runs good.....

Sursnak for me its more about tinkering..... if you knew my wife you'd know why lol.....

Raced go karts for years and had more fun working on it then I did racing..... also dabbled in quads had a blaster I completely redid the motor and sold for a raptor 660 and sold.....once again had more fun working in it.... also had a 84 f-150 slammed with a 500hp small block in it......

The only thing I did to my bike I didnt like was the reverse exhaust..... everything else I really enjoy..... my engine sliders everyone loves and asks where I got them..... only me and rchuff are going to have them..... lol

not knocking you just saying. I love tinkering just as much as riding. But also don't like wasting time, you know...

I say do it and let us know how it works - I'm new here but already had a similar thought about replacing the exhaust on my 07 XB9. Actually my 17 year old suggested it and I liked the idea...

I think it will need tu be tuned by ECM spy.
What ECM are you running?
If you don't know much about tuning I'd suggest the octopus's tuniversity located on the bottom of the page.
Me personally I'd save your money and get th full header and pipe from dean .

But hell its $75 if you want to fart around with another exhaust give it a whirl and let us know how it works. Always nice to be different!

I'm actually tossing around another idea now..... summit racing has vibrant stainless products on sale I might do another reverse using the jardine can...... measurements look pretty good.....

Hey greasyxb9s,
did this work out for you? I just bought a glasspack from summit and plan on doing something similar. Did you have to do an ECM remap?

Sorry to interrupt but, where on the bottom of the page? Buell Links? [confused]

D Adams, I think I have one of your exhausts on my lightning maybe? Ever build any for a guy up in seattle?

I'd so, it's just mean. Always get compliments

I've built them for a few people, I'm sure at least one made it out that way. Post a pic of it and I'll let you know. Most of mine are tagged somewhere with a name plate and serial number on them.

Brock, see the ads on the right hand side of your screen? Click the ad at the bottom, which is Dean's website where he sells his Exhausts from.

Or if you want the easy way, check this out... www.deanadamsdesigns.com

The one on my xb9 (pictured above) runs a little over $1100 for the whole thing, more if you want it done in ceramic or polished.

This is the polished version of it.

Hey dean just curious if you have before and after dyno's?

d_adams
07-16-2014, 01:13 PM
No, but the average xb9 makes about 75 hp at the wheel, mine's at 83 or 84 now and still obscenely rich.

No, but the average xb9 makes about 75 hp at the wheel,
Very close! Pure stock and I would speculate closer to 71ish. I have an '05 9SX with a Jardine only...NO other mods...not even a K&N , and on (2) different dyno's made 73.9 and 75.1 respectively.

I was trying to be optimistic for stock power, didn't want mine to look _too_ good. It's also north of 35k miles and as far as I know has never been rebuilt. I know for sure they're stock size pistons, no oversize. I think the true average might be a little lower and only about 60 ft/lbs of torque, I could be wrong about it though.

You are doing pretty good there Dean! I would NOT be afraid to say that a stock 9 is 71-72 RWHP. I was in the 20k mile range when I ran mine. I couldn't believe it was only 73.9 on a Dynojet at a Ducati shop....it was their open house and dyno pulls were like 5 or $10 for HP only. 1 single pull. So at another venue that had one of the Dynojets in a trailer, I ponied up a good bit more money just to see. Guess what?! Nearly identical.
