Okay, recently bought a project Buell that was a great deal I couldnt say no to, the main reason is it had some really great performance parts as part of the deal, im keeping those and putting the bike back to slightly modified,

So, my main issue at this point is im going to put the stock pipe with a modified can on the 2003 XB and the Micron exhaust on my 2007 XB.

I DISLIKE pipe wraps (BAD idea) and am planning on doing a ceramic coating on the stock header pipes (lifetime warranty) (see www.finishlinecoatings.com ) and the micron exhaust is in good shape, both the muffler and the header pipe, but need some cleaning and polish. the muffler looks easy enough to cleanup, i have a big commerical buffing machine, im sure i can make it look great.

The Micron pipes however seem lightly textured (perhaps sandblasted at one point?) and want to clean them up, I would assume they are stainless, or perhaps they are some sort of other materials? or coated?
Does anyone know what material they used? Should i polish? or maybe do a shiny silver ceramic coating?

The ceramic coats offer some significant advantages as they pass the heat OUT the pipe instead of radiating from the pipe, which offers lowered temps to the cyls and motor.

anyone with first hand knowledge of thse Microns I would appreciate any input

I don't remember what medal they used in the hydro formed header, but I do know they do not polish up real nice.
Just jet coat the headers and call it a day.

I havent tried polishing them yet, but they just dont feel or look like stainless, I realize Stainless comes in many forms, The micron muffler is a whole different material, and nice shiny polished stainless look,. My local coating shop can do the ceramic coatings in several colors and satin and a almost polished look that ALMOST looks like Chrome.

Im thinking that the coating is the way to go,, plus the fact it holds the heat temps way down,

Thanks for the input,
