New 1/4 turn throttle tube from Twin Motorcycles! [up]
It's not up on our site yet but I'm thinking it will be around the $75-80 mark shipped in the states. If there's enough interest, we may consider a group buy. What do you think?

What is the diameter where the cable rides so I can figure out how much less you will need to rotate?
75-80 seems a little steep, how much would a group buy discount be. Im kind of interested in this. But if the diameter is the same as a R6 tube i cant see it working out well. I didnt think there was a ton of room in the throttle housing. I think ericz worked on a different cam for the TB because he couldnt get enough diameter in the housing.

Twin Motorcycles decribe it as a variable ratio profile so I suspect it's a cam profile as opposed to a diameter. They do call it a "1/4 turn tube" so I suppose you could check how much the OEM rotates and figure that out instead of comparing diameters.
Keep in mind that this is a machined aluminum part as opposed to the injection molded plastic R6/R1 tubes and the like so manufacturing costs are going to be significantly higher to begin with. According to TM's description it's a drop-in replacement so I don't suspect there are housing mods to do as with the R6/R1 tubes but I'm not 100% sure on that but I can find out (this is still very new to me as well). I think TM has a different TB cam that they offer as well. I'll have to look into that too.
I'm thinking the group buy discount could be around $15-20 but those details need to be worked out as well. Stay tuned...

I'd be in at a group by in that price range.

Got some feedback from TM:
- Compared to R1 / R6 ( for XB ) the rotation is more
- No modification to housing required. There is only so much room inside. This is max rotation without modifying
We can get to around the discount previously mentioned for a group buy but we'd need 20 orders. I'll finalize the price soon. I'll take one myself so we'd need 19 more.
I'll start a list. Copy it and add your name if you're interested. I'll take payment if/when we get to 20.

So this doesn't fit the 1125s?
It does according to their site. He may have been using the XB reference if the OEM 1125 tube is a little different. Their description on their site (link above) says it's for both.

I did a quick throttle on my bike this winter and that was the main issue with this mod, not much space in that control ... I had to "rework" the interior to fit the bigger tube ...

That's why I feel this is a great product. It gives you results that may not be as drastic as the R6/R1 tubes but it's a drop-in. I'm always hesitant to start grinding away on a part especially since replacement parts are becoming more and more scarce.
SweetÂ* what's your fb page?

Waiting to hear back from Twin on that. I don't know that they'll have enough in stock to support this large an order so there may be a short wait. I'll let you all know as soon as I know. In general, if TM has a part in stock we can usually have it to your door in 10-12 days from when you place your order. Stay tuned...

All sound good guys! Thanks for the T-orders as well! [up] We're glad to do group buys on anything that we can get this much interest in. We saw this as an opportunity to do so since the long throttle action is such a nuisance on these bike and for a few bucks they can be cured!

Just want to say that I'm personally excited about this mod! I rode into work and paid attention to whether I hit the stops while laying into the throttle...NOPE!!! I'm still a fairly new rider, and even so to my XB12Scg (riding 2 months). Is this a mod you would recommend for a new rider, or should I just leave it alone till another time?
Cheers!
50dro
06-18-2013, 09:26 AM
hmmm...Good question. I guess it depends. The stock tube is somewhat of a throttle limiter as it can be difficult to reach WOT sometimes with it. It really depends on your comfort level your control and probably a million other things really. This mod is to get to WOT quicker...as a new rider if you don't want to flirt with WOT then leave it. Ultimately, it's up to you to control the bike and modulate the throttle. I don't think this will make it more difficult to ride.
clarson_75
06-18-2013, 11:08 AM
Ronin- I would still do it now. GB is a great price. Aluminum is better then the plastic tube. It is made to work with your bike instead of needing you to modify stuff. You just have to take some extra care until you get used to the throttle again. The fact that you are getting to WOT faster could add danger to an unsuspecting person, but the fact that you have to rotate your arm around less can enhance safety as well. Dro is right. It is your choice.

As much as it pains us to do this, we have to regretfully cancel this group buy. :( This product has been removed from our site.
Without getting into all the details, there were some mis-communications on the pricing from the manufacturer that had us off by quite a bit. So much so that it would have cost us money to deliver them to you.
Those of you that have placed an order already will be given a full refund in the next day or so. If you ordered other products along with the throttle tubes you will be given the option to keep those products on your order or be given a full refund for those as well. If you ordered other products, please send us an email with your selection if you don't receive one from us first.
Please be patient as there are many orders to go through and refund. If you don't see your refund in a few days, please contact us and we'll make sure we correct the issue.
Please accept our sincere apologies for this. We wish this were not the case. Any questions...please ask.
We hop you will consider doing business with 5-0dro again in the future.

At this point no. If we did they'd be around $125 and that seems awfully high to us...Don't think many would buy them at that price.
So what's the actual price?Â*

Do you means w/o the group buy? It would be around $125 shipped :(
I'll PM you about the shirt if you still want it.
I don't think that was the case. Certainly not on our end, and not on TM's end. More-so on the manufacturer's end. I think they had old pricing etc etc.
If the twin motorcycle guys can't run a good business you should drop them 50. Stuff like this is bad publicity...
As said above, I don't think it was on TM. They're good people and we've had a really good relationship thus far. In this case there was a drastic change and we got caught in the middle of it unfortunately. This was the only way we could find to get out of the increase w/o loosing our shirts.
It is bad publicity and for that I am truly sorry. I'm nearly sick over it honestly. I was really excited about it for myself and it was a good deal for you all but it wasn't meant to be. I'm just glad that no-one had to lose any money over it...Just a bunch of time on my end...
