Are Lightning and Firebolt speedos interchangeable?

Hi guys,

I'm looking to purchase an XB12scg from outside of California, but due to emissions regulations, 49 state bikes need to have over 7500 miles in order to be exempt from California emissions. I've found a few bikes that I would buy, but all have less than 7500 miles, some with significantly less. I am considering buying a speedo with over 7500 miles, but the only ones that I can find with about that mileage are from Firebolts.

Will a speedo from an older Firebolt (say '04) work on an '09 Lightning? Is there any issues swapping between models or model years? Based on my searching online I believe it will work, but I figure it wouldn't hurt to ask on here as well. Thanks in advance for your input.

And if by chance a friendly LIghtning owner in Los Angeles with just over 7500 miles on the odo wants to help out, I would very much appreciate it!

I bought a lightning gauge set and it fit my firebolt... But it was from an 05 and mine is an 03... I don't think the gauges changed the entire time the XB's were being made.. I MIGHT be wrong but I'm pretty sure they stayed the same... Welcome to the forum btw... =)

If the plugs match. It will be plug and play. I recently took the instrument panel from my 2010 Lightning and installed it on the 2004 Firebolt with a Lightning harness. I believe both bikes use similar sensors for the dash.

no. different gearboxes. speed shown will be too high on a 2009 xb.

Well, I am okay with that as long as it works and displays the mileage; I would only be using it to register the bike. Thanks for the insight ich.
