I have an 09 with 8k on it with the original stator/rotor. I'm wondering what you all think about taking it on a 10 hour trip from KS to WI. It sometimes is a little funky to start (sys volt msg, starts on second crank) if its over 100F out and the engine is already hot from previously running. Other than that the stator seems fine. Should I go for it or go next season after I rewind the stator?

BTW I'll be gone for 9 months. I was thinking of storing it with my dad in WI, so that he can start it periodically.

I'd wait... it would suck to get half way and have it die on you...

What's your voltage showing on the screen when you ride? If you're in the 13-14 range, you're probably fine, just need to put your battery on a charger for a bit.

It fluctuates from 13.9 to 12.3. It only drops to 12.3 at a light on a hot day. Otherwise it stays around 13s.

If you have to ask, then your gut is already telling you. It's not worth getting on the road with a known problem.

Totally go for it!!
Put some tape over the volt gauge so you won't obsess about it and enjoy the ride!

Of course you'll need to get roadside assistance, trip interruption insurance, and leave a week early....

Never say NO to a road trip[up]

You only live once and that's how you make memories and stories.
