Hi just hoping someone might be able to give a bit of advice...

Been today to see a xb12s 2008 great bike and the owner looks like he's looked after it. He mentioned the exhaust "blows" a bit when riding (he was speaking french, me english so didn't quite get it all)... i started it up and it sounded ok but didn't have time to take it for a ride - hopefully can do next week.

I've done a search and seen that the the remus 2008 comes in a euro model (i'm in europe) with an extra weld-on plate to prevent breakage. It didn't seem broke but then again i didn't know about the weld in triangle when i was looking. He seemed to indicate where the headers go into the single pipe on muffler top. My thinking is the thing looked a bit dirty, worn, probably has worked its way loose and he's never got to actually tightening the strap up around the pipe. So thinking it is not a problem. Everything else looks ok.

Sound about right? Or does anyone have experience with the wrong remus for 2008 being fitted and breaking. Don't really want the first thing to be a pipe replacement.

Any help, info, much appreciated!

kerr: with the seller being French and mentioning that the bike "blows" a bit when riding....he could be referring to anything from a leaky muffler joint or connection.....to trying to tell you that his crotch itches and switching to synthetic oil brought him some relief.

haha... i know, i just read my post back this morning and even i'm like "wtf?" how is anyone answer this?!

the pipes have marks on them and the throttle end bar, but not the fork or swing arm, so at some point someone (he's not the first owner) has dropped the bike... i'm thinking it is just a leaky muffler joint from that and the fact no one's probably tightened anything up in a long while... gonna try and get another look monday to be sure

cheers tho lunaticfringe [up]
