here is mine on a 2005 XB12SCQ It was wrecked by a car running into it, I bought it recently from a forum member, Im rebuilding the whole bike, I am wondering WHY WHY this one is fiberglass and others are alloy metal, can anyone tell me why?
my parts book shows the following:
M0613.1ADYT for the Black SX models,.
M0613.1ADYBQ for the Silver SCQ
any help appreciated,, sorry to hijack your thread, but it was a topical subject[smirk]

Mine is a XB12 SCQ 2005. parts book numbers came out of the 2005 factory lightning parts book

the logo can be changed, I looked at Surdyke HD has the assy new but its unclear if that includes the COMPLETE assy including all the bits, or just the basic housing

how about the question of why is it the tail pieces are metal in some cases and fiberglass in others, and importantly will they interchange?

I guess and again I'm guessing that tail can't be a fiber glass as is part of the whole tail structure. That's is why I believe it broke easy.

There was fiberglass ones made xtremelow had one on his wifes bike.

I talked to the previous owner, mine is a aftermarket item with the fold down license plate. thats why its fiberglass.
it has to be replaced after it was wrecked, and im more likely up here in Oregon to get rain, so will go with the stock design for now,,,They look like a afterthought, but ive seen plenty of bikes with the rooster tails of water when you dont have something to keep the rain deflected away
