Oil Dipstick

I would like to change to an aftermarket oil dipstick, because the stock one is so hard to read.

My question is; I have an 05 Buell XB9SX. I know they changed the dipstick completely around 2006 i believe.

I'm looking at the Buellster part dipstick but it says its only for 03-04:

From my knowledge this one should work with the 05 as well. But on there website the 05 should be:

Even comparing to the one on American sport-bike, the dipsticks should be 03-05 and 06+

So Basically, If I want one from Buellster Parts, which one do I need to get?

I'd say if your bike has the older style swing arm which it should then go with the 03-04 one.

To the OP- If difficulty reading your oil level is the only reason you're looking for another dipstick, try using some light-colored shrink-tubing on your current one. Grab some white or yellow colored tubing if you can find it. It can make roadside or gas station oil-checking a little easier at night or in low-light conditions.

Out of curiousity.... Do you mark the tubing with something, or just wrap the dipstick above the full line?
Sounds like a good idea, assuming oil won't break down the shrink tubing.

I cleaned my dip stick with brake cleaner(insert joke here!) and painted the area with white paint. Its easy to read, CHEAP and the paint has not been affected by the heat or oil. I had some white spray paint that I used, nothing fancy.
