removing front axle

What do you mean "won't budge", wont break loose at all?

Did you loosen the pinch bolts?

Are you turning the correct way, front axle is right hand loosen.

Yes wont break free. Pinch bolts out. Turning clockwise. Just spread the bottom with thin chisel.

I guess I need to put a torque bar to it.

Shoot some wd40 or other lube around the bearings. It is probably rusted.

Yes , try WD-40 first befor heat. If you do heat do it slow and have someone putting pressure on it as you put the heat to is. You don't want to over hear it.

Mine just took a 4 foot piece of cast iron pipe as a breaker bar to get loose. Maybe I should apply some never seize to the threads before putting it back together? Any suggestions?

you must be careful, the axle is probable seized in the bearings!
mine toque some swearing a lot of sweat and some beating to come out
if this seems to be your case, my advice is, strap both legs of the suspension, as near to the axle as possible
very slowly apply some strength to axle and hammer the right arm, on the axle área, you must do this while keeping an eye on the strap making sure the suspension arms don't get bent and the gap between the rim and the suspension (at the axle area) never exceeds a coin thickness

PB Blaster works for me much better than WD-40, and a little heat helps too. The chisel in the axle split should help.
The front axle is only supposed to be tightened to 39-41 ft/lbs and the pinch bolts to 19-21 ft/lbs, Anti seize on the threads AND the other (flat) side of the axle.

But whenever I can't get a bolt loose I just call my wife and have her do it for me[sad]

When you get ready to put it back(hopefully you have removed it) proper preparation is important. Clean both the threads in the fork and the axle with a wire brush and something like brake cleaner. The same with the other end of the axle and the hole in the fork, then use anti-seize on both ends. When I have my axle out I polish it first before installing. Its anal but it comes out easier later on. Be careful with anti-seize, It can get everywhere and can be a bitch to remove from areas you did not want it to go. Some times a sharp rap on the wrench with a dead weight hammer(on the wrench) can make it come loose.
