Ok my fellow buellers, ive come to a crossroad in my life and need your expert opinions on my situation.

I currently own a 2009 xb9 and finally finished doing everything i wanted to do to it, so its complete. All mods i want are there and its paid off, i dont really have any major expenses as my car is also paid off( 95 honda prelude). So naturally i was thinking of picking up one of the new EBR models as soon as i came back from deployment in Feb timeframe. BUT i was talking with a fellow biker and he put this idea in my head that i just cant get out. Hes a little older and he said if he was in my shoes that i should get a truck first, then i can start making it out to events with my buell in the back. Pay the truck off in a few years then move to a new bike. He said he jumped the gun and bought a sportbike first younger and then a truck later in life but realised even if he only makes 3 events a year (bike weeks, harley rides, whatever) thats still 3 events he will remember forever and they are always a blast. So im trying to get some perspective and see do i really need a bike now? no but then again do i really need a truck? no. So what should i do? Buy a tacoma and start making events and track days with my xb9 OR buy a EBR streetbike and be a boss everywhere i go? Or say F it and get a g37s like ive been wanting for a while now? really my prelude is just getting old to me ive had it since jr year in high school so i think im just getting new car fever or something. All thoughts are appreciated!! let me know what route you took or are currently taking. Thanks BROS

Keep the Prelude for daily driver, buy some cheap ass (<$4000) single cab tacoma for track days and occasional truck use and use the rest of your cash on an EBR model.

That's the whole plan I have as of now. I plan on keeping my current vehicles and finding a cheap, single cab, manual mini truck like a ranger or tacoma and using that only for bikes and when my son turns 16 (in 12+ years) I'll give him a cheap piece of crap to drive around and learn to wrench on.

hmm i never even considered keeping all of them, i think that may be too many vehicles for just me to hold onto. I could go cheap with a older tacoma and get the ebr also but man i am liking the newer body style access cabs. loaded and used therye running low 20k range but that wouldnt let me get both... I think whatever route i take i only want one car/truck and no more than 2 bikes at any time.

I have a '95 f150, looks like crap, but gets me from point A to B, has 240k+ and still going. don't dwell on what the older guy told you about what he did or should have done. sure he means well, but it's your call in the end, be smart about it, think it through before pulling the trigger. lay out a plan or sort through the pro's and cons and see where you stand financially if you do get the truck or the bike first. set a goal, make it realistic and stay the course. good luck with whatever you decide

My input is the bike Is street legal. Ride the sucker you will kick yourself for not having fun while you still can And a ebr is a Lot more fun then a new taco

OR buy a EBR streetbike and be a boss everywhere i go?

Definitely this! But I'd suggest you get a Hayabusa with lots of LEDs to accomplish this dream.

Put a hitch on that Prelude, buy a Kendon standup trailer and an EBR. No extra storage woes, it's super light weight, and you can be a boss at all of your tow in events. The trailer alone will draw a crowd, plus the EBR on it...

I am kinda in the same boat... both bike and car are paid off... but I know that I want to get a truck first... mostly because I fear that my car will die soon, but knowing my luck it will last a while longer since I just had the engine rebuilt like a year ago. Both my wife's car and mine were paid off, and I decided that she needed a new car, so we just bought a new car for her and thus inherited a car payment. We also just had a baby a couple months ago and are now paying for daycare (f*cking expensive! almost twice the car payment) so I really cant afford a new bike, or a new truck right now... so that makes my decision easy...

As for your decision... Take a look at the future. If you buy the EBR bike, will you have enough money for a new car/ truck if yours were to break in the next 5 years? similarly, if you buy a new truck, will your bike last long enough for you to get another?? will you ultimately still be happy? I would at least wait until the bikes have been released and you get an accurate price range.

Once you get a truck you'll never know how you ever lived without one. Get a truck.

I miss having a truck a lot of the time but man am I happy I don't get asked to help people move all the time.

Not many options:
A Pre-lude maybe able to tow your new bike on a trailer, but would you want to? I think you should Sell or trade the car and buy a truck.

Great input ppl! Appreciate all of it, never even thought of some of the options you guys are puttin out there.

Dang i dont think anyone would even sell me a busa. I dont wear jordans when I ride and im not black lol

This is really interesting, ive seen picks on the internet of preludes pulling small fishing boats so im sure i could do it actually... but like someone said that would look pretty gay. Then again it would let me do everything i want, ill have to consider this lol.

Yes im sure i could do it, i would obviously have to manage my money better but i just made Sgt and im single so i really have no expenses at this time. My buell better last forever, not sure if i ever really want to sell it lol

you know i was thinking it would be sweet to be able to go camping and do those kinds of trips so that is a plus, my problem is i like nice things so im not sure if i would want an older truck even though it makes more financial sense. Used of course i dont need new, but at least a 2009 or newer is what i was thinking.

Thanks for all the input again, lots to think over
