Hi there guys! Sorry...I don't know WHAT I did....I tried to post a pic of the odometer, and when I did, I lost my whole message and all! It just rolled 30K Friday night. I am VERY happy with it so far! Here are some of the details I'd originally written;
2005 XB9SX-
All basically stock-
Jardine can. (Was on it when I'd bought it). Never been re-packed. Sort of loud, but it IS solid. (No rivets loose, etc.). -
ORIGINAL air filter element. Not that I'm real proud of this, but it isn't all that bad. I want to put a K&N in there as soon as I can reflash my ECM or get an EBR ECM.
ECM replaced shortly after I bought it. It would drop the front cylinder, run for maybe a minute longer then shut down. (Popped the IGN fuse). It would over heat the coil, and split it open. It did this (2) times. After some thought, looking at schematics, and opinions from others, it appeared the ECM would 'charge' the front coil, but never break the circuit. In other words...turn it on and leave it on. It was ALWAYS the front side. My local Harley dealer, fixed me up with one of personal ECM's from his race tool box, re-flashed a stock "9" map in it, and it's been fine since.-
New NGK plugs (not my choice, but its what was available...and hey...they work), and wires when I was fighting the ECM. NOT required...but I started with the basics first.-
Clutch Cable- hey....its going to happen! Whether its a Honda, Suzuki or a Buell....if it has a cable, it will break some day! Found 2nd gear and rode it home that way! Click it whn I had to, start in gear when it was time to go! Fortunately battery was good!
ORIGINAL battery! Not sure I'll get next season out of it...but who knows?!
EBC HH (?) pads up front with a new rotor. (I had the new rotor left over from my '06, so I put it on with the new pads).
BRAKING Corp. Pads in rear. Glass beaded and scuffed rotor when I installed pads. They DID squeal for about 500 miles at first...fine ever since.-
Pulled #77 connector apart, inspected it, loaded with dielectric compound and re-installed. -
Valvoline VR1 Racing oil in Engine with 8oz. Of Lucas. 10-30 when it drops below 50 degrees for any length of time. 20-50 in temps above 50 degrees.Changed religiously at 2500-3500 miles dependant on how hard I've run it. -
AmsOil 20-50 in primary. SEEMS to shift the nicest out of all I've tried. (HD SYN3, Mobil1 and RoyalPurple). Changed every other oil change of engine. Adjust clutch ramp, cable, and chain at same time.
And that's it....I run this bike hard. (There IS a difference between running it hard and hammering it, vs abusing it!).

Happy Riding guys!! (And MAINTAIN that thing!) :D

STOP RIDING IT NOW! If there's ever a possibility of you wanting to sell it, nobody wants a high mileage Buell.jk

Seriously, as long as it gives you a case of the grins keep on motoring! I'm at 24k on my Uly and 47k on the Lightning.

Pos90! You're right....I have the strangest feelings riding it! I will probably never sell it, but even so...I hate 'wearing it out' too, as I can't just go buy a new one!! But its SO much fun to ride!! I've been doing a lot of Demo rides at Yamaha, Honda, and Ducati dealers in my area. There is NOTHING like my Buellie!! I was hoping I'd like the FZ Yammy, buti it won't hold a candle to my XB. Its a nice bike to 'ride' and in its defense, it isn't a high ticket bike. Oh well....keep on riding, aye?!

Great write-up WIGGLE! congrats on the 30k milestone.. with your mechanical aptitude there will be many happy miles ahead on your 9!
