Ok, so I ride an '05 xb9sx and I am starting to get into all this tuning and data logging stuff. I think I have a pretty good understanding of how to log with a narrowband O2 sensor. Basically Hook it up to my laptop and data log with ecmspy, run that data through megalog veiwer and ve analyzer which adjusts the rear fuel map based on the AFR at each cell it is trying to achieve.

So a basic question before I move on to wideband setup......

What is the best way to adjust the front fuel maps WITHOUT an o2 Sensor in the front header tube (because I just don't have the means to do it at the moment)???? Run them the same? or I read to make the front maps 2-3% leaner across the board...or use stock maps as a reference then subtract the differences of each cell between the rear and front then use those differences to figure the front map values???? That is my first confusion...

OKAY so I want to do a wideband setup after I fiddle around with basic tuning...I have read up on setting the WB O2 to work with the ecm...you have to simulate the narrowband voltages on one of the analog outputs and slow down the output of the controller so it will communicate with the ECM. I've read how to program the AFR values to "trick" the ecm into thinking it's 14.7....so I think I get a grasp on all that...

BUT HOW DO YOU DATA LOG WITH A WIDEBAND SETUP? TO GET THE WIDEBAND DATA IN MEGALOG VIEWER??

If you just use the data port on the ecm you are basically just dong narrowband tuning right?? Do I have to setup another data port specifically for logging the wideband AFR data?? That is where I am SOOOO CONFUSED!?

I emailed theoctupus a while ago over at tuniversity for some knowledge base on the subject, but he wasn't giving up any info unless I paid for it...LOL!! Which i totally understand...knowledge is time and $$$ :D I have already figured out a lot just by reading a bunch of forum posts and a lot off trial and error...more on the error side! HAHA! I mean no disrespect to those on the forum who do tuning, but I could use a some pointers.

You need to turn off the o2 setting in ECMSpy. Then run the wideband signal through the ECM - when data logging, the wideband data will just get pushed through the ECM to ECMSPY. You'll have to set up megalog to read the wideband data. It's really not too hard at all.

You can create custom afr maps in megalog and megalog will take the afr data you logged and try to adjust the fuel map accordingly.

And for the front, I did the subtraction thing based off the race maps.

Read, read, and reread the tuning guide posted by ich.

Thanks for the tips! I finally found a lot more scouring the web. I saved about 20 web pages to my desktop that goes over data logging, megalog viewer, wideband setup, etc. I'm going to do a 1050cc kit on my XB9 along with some head work and maybe some cams, and I want to be able to tune it accordingly.

Why wouldn't you just put a 12 crank in the bike get 12 headers and throttle body? Oh, and a 12 ecm.

Do you have one for sale? LOL but I do like the higher revs of the 9 crank.
