Just as the title says. I'm a bigger guy and am having a hard time finding gear. I'm 5'10" 260lbs. Jacket isn't a problem. It's pants. Every pair of pants that I have tried on has the knee pads at my shins. I almost ordered the speed and strength urge overkill pants but found out they are a 34 inch inseam. I already walk on a 30 inch inseam. I'm considering getting the draggin jeans Kevlar underwear and the icon Stryker knee pads. Then just wear regular jeans over them. I can't be the only guy with this issue. Any help would be great.

I always have a problem with knee pad placement. I am 6'3" and 325#. I also find the knee pads on my shins as well, so it isn't just you. Most motorcycle pants also place them lower so it fits you while riding, rather than standing. But it still doesn't fit me in either position. The pants I have are a Hein Gericke leather Tribal, Motoport Kevlar Mesh overpants (bought used, so no custom placement for me) and Firstgear gen 1 over pants.
I usually put the knee pads halfway into the pocket. There is usually a cut out for the part that actually covers your knee cap. It make a great location for the pocket to hold the knee pad in place. I have not had them move on a 11 day, 4200 mile ride, so I figure they are good to go. I have my wife sow a t-shirt material cover for the pad so it doesn't stick to my skin.
If you are willing to spend the dough, take a look at the Motoport Kevlar pants. I have a set of the mesh Kevlar pants and am very pleased with them. The offer a similar airflow as mesh gear with the protection of race leathers. I also bought a used set of stretch Kevlar pants, but they don't fit me. So if you are interested in a set of 38-40 waist Kevlar stretch race cut pants, let me know. I have a set at a big discount over new. They are pricey when purchased new, but you can have the pads custom placed which is nice.
