Lol I watched like 5 guys trying to load a bike using a section of a thin ass aluminum garage door as a ramp. One just jumped on the bike and tried to ride up the "ramp", it just folded in half and he slammed into the tail gate. Broke the headlight, fairing and dented gate. Classic.......[smirk]

What is the best way?
I have a trailer I ride on and off of but what about into the bed of a truck. Push it up? Loading dock? Walk it up using the bikes power? Ride it?
I have loaded a bike into a truck once. We backed the truck into a ditch and just rode the bike on. Easy peasy.

In almost ALL of those videos there are a bunch of people standing around and filming.
If your watching or filming it must be risky right????
HELP OUT!!!!!!!!!!!

The handful of times I had to load my old FZ6, I rode it up the ramp (that was strapped to the tail gate)
Oddly enough in the 6 or 7 years I've had my Buell I've never loaded it into anything.

As you can see in that awesome vid the breakover angle between the tailgate and the ramp is the killer...
The curved ramps are great and still much cheaper than bike damage. Go ahead and splurge! you can even use your 20% off harbor freight coupon you've been saving:D
Find a friend to help if you can. 478lbs of bike on your chest sucks.
Find a ditch to put the back wheels in for a flat transition. I've even power braked the truck to sink the back tires in dirt/sand (but not your neighbors yard!).
Have your tie-downs all ready hooked to the truck, I like Ancra tie-downs. You are using rated tie-downs that aren't 20 years old and cut up, right??.
Wrap a soft-tie around the stake pocket and hook there, it holds the bike much more securely laterally and also helps when loading more than one bike.
Set your ramps solidly (If your broke-ass is using 2x8 wood, it needs a metal end piece for the tailgate angle and traction aid like skateboard tape)
Use 2 ramps, one for the bike and one to walk up, but a milk crate as a step works too.
Walk up the left side, so you can get to the kickstand when its loaded, if you need too.
Tie the bike down upright, not on the kickstand.
Pull it down securely. No need to fully compress the forks you gorilla!
Tie a safety knot in front of the tie-down grip with the excess strap, don't trust those spring loaded grippy thingys! The knot I use is like a half-hitch, but you don't pull the tail through, so it only takes a quick yank to undo it. I'm sure there's a name for it but I'm not a sailor... or a boy scout.
If theres still strap left, secure it so it won't fray or hit the bike in 70MPH wind.
While traveling, actually look at it occasionally! No one will tell you it fell off miles ago, or a strap is beating the crap out of your plastic.

I have loaded a bike into a truck once. We backed the truck into a ditch and just rode the bike on. Easy peasy.
I load my buell into my ram 1500 often. I have two aluminum ramps(curved). I put them on the tailgate, strap the ramps to the hitch, start the bike, and ride the front brake, throttle, and clutch all at once and use the bikes own power to walk it up onto the truck. I've never had an issue.
My last truck was an s10 which was lower to the ground and I used a 2x8 that I drilled a hole in to strap it to the bumper. I would remove the tailgate for that loading. I walked my suzuki up the same way I do my buell, except that truck was low enough I could step up into the bed. One time I almost fell because I was loading it at 3am and it there was dew on the plastic bed liner, I slipped and barely caught myself. Lesson learned.
My ram has a linex, much grippier. Sometimes people run up to me as I'm loading and grab the bike to try to help me. It usually almost makes me lose balance and drop the bike. I lean the bike slightly towards me and when they grab it from the other side they pull it towards them. Now when someone comes running over to "help" I start screaming at them and cussing them out lol.
I agree though, backing to a ditch or hill is by far the easiest way. Hard to do in the flat lands of FL though :)
What's really really REALLY stupid is the people who 1) try to hit the ramp at speed(especially when it's not tied off), and 2) try to ride up with nothing to balance on either side (doh!)

well i don't have have a picture but iv had all three of my buells in my truck. i have this tri-folding aluminum ramp that works awesome. it has two chains that wrap around the nylon cord and hold it up so you dont spin it out from under you. plus it folds out to almost as wide as your tail gate and you an just walk it up push it up or ride it up. came in handy almost everyday my motorcycle racing days

True story,
Had a bolt break on the right front part pf the subframe, caused my bike to speed wobble down the highway, almost died twice.... So i pull into a parking lot inspect find bolt sheered, so me and my buddy park the bikes, go into the restraunt i make a call to get picked up. While i wait had a few beers. My ride showed up i ride the bike like 20 ft to the trailer and attempt to ride straight up.... Yeah didnt happen, bike cut out and fell to the side right on top of me. Lesson learned the hard way

I load that same way but put the bike in backwards so if ever necessary I can make a grand entrance/exit and ride the bike off the truck all heroic like they do in the movies
I usually ride mine in the truck or on a trailer and double strap the front of the bike no strap on the back. I had one fall before when a newer strap broke with no warning, but it was no big deal sense it was just a 600 gsxr. I would be crushed if that happened to my Buell.

It's disgusting when 15 people watch someone mess their stuff up. What great friends they have.
I use a drainage ditch that brings my tailgate 8 inches from grade. I would like to determine how to properly load 2 bikes in my truck but I will come up with something by spring.

After 2 failed attempts trying to get my 1125r up into the moving truck I decided to move the truck out into the road, moved the ramp all the way out and up the driveway, then me and my family all pushed the bike down the driveway and up the ramp. It was a bit sucky, but we got it in there. I rode it down the ramp successfully.

Last time I loaded into the back of my truck, I backed my truck up to my trailer, then pushed the bike onto the trailer and then into the truck.
