Well riding season its coming to a end it got up to 32° so i figured I'd ride the bike to work one last time. The power at these cold temps is amazing the traction sucks but that just made it that much more fun. Power sliding turns and burnouts a block long with no brake.:D the ride home should be around 20°[up]

It's when motorcycling becomes a winter sport!

don't be too upset, i live in florida and while i can ride year round, the riding here sucks. it's all straight roads with lots of traffic, esp this time of year.

the winter is nice on my wallet. up until about mid february when I am tweaking out when I see my bikes just sitting there. the biggest problem with it is you have all winter to think of mods... then I spend the entire month of february modding and preparing :D

hehe

The riding is bad here in FL but once your ride around enough you can find some decent riding. Nothing like up north and out west though.

And yes it DOES suck riding full gear in 115 deg weather(I've done it)

Yes.... Tampa, FL here. I can ride to work all year round but can't get rid of the chicken strips on the new tires the roads are so boring. Doesn't help with the new 200 I put on the back....such a square tire.

sure seems like it this time of the year. i spend a lot of time either going straight or really slow in the turns. this will be my first season off a dualsport, it's going to be interesting to see how it goes.

I like to ride on the edge of my limit when there's no traffic the feeling of the rear starting to slide out is a rush that I've became very familiar with with the Buell. Scares the crap out of my wife when she's riding behind me. I'm going top have top get some cameras for get bike so i can really see how far I'm pushing it.

Yup, heated grips, proper protective outer shell, and thermal under layers is all I need to comfortably ride year round in temperatures down to -10c (15f). No worries! :D

I completely understand all you northerner's pain, hell I walked out the door this morning and was so damn cold I almost went back inside to put on a long sleeve shirt! In the end, I was able to overcome the severe cold with my short sleeve shirt, but boy was it tough!

:D

Funny how the body adapts to conditions. I am from Pittsburgh and loved the cold when I lived there. We would go play in the snow all day in sweat pants and a hoody and it was no big deal. The first year or two in florida was miserable, nothing like going to the end of the driveway to get the mail and needing a shower when you get back to the front door. After living in FL a couple years I can't take the cold for a minute anymore but can tolerate the heat. If it gets in the 40's we curl up by the fire in our snuggie lol.

not an option where I live, (central BC's interior) riding in that kinda weather will get you killed, our roads are far too dangerous with black ice and what not (sealcoat does not like frost), corners that stay crispy due to zero sun exposure.

My last ride was Oct 25th and BamBam is back in his winter spot...in my dining room

Moved to Charlotte, NC, from Upstate NY. I never really hated the snow, but the idea of riding most of the year was appealing.

I just got a Gerbing heated jacket liner, and was able to test it out this weekend. VERY nice addition to my gear. Heated grips and better hand guard are getting installed on the Uly as soon as I get a free night. As long as there's no ice, I should be able to ride.

I wouldn't feel safe in a car let alone on a bike...

When the weather gets close to freezing I ride a bicycle to work and make imitation Buell sounds. Also a wheelie or 2.

Snrusnak,
Is your truck lowered or do you just have bigger tires?

snrusnak
11-15-2013, 08:07 PM
^I lowered the rear 2", so it sits level. The tires are actually stock size, just appear larger since they are so aggressive, and I mounted them on 10" or 10.5" wide wheels(don't recall).

I actually want to trade or sell my wheels/tires and get a set of oem 2013 17" aluminum ram 1500 wheels and go back to more of a street tire. Although I do love the look of these..

I lost some capacity by lowering the rear but I added air bags and it's great again. I've had 2,220 lbs in the bed plus me and misc. crap in the cab and the toolboxes and although it squatted quite a bit it actually rode good(of course I was taking it pretty easy).

Sorry to thread jack (although I'd be lying if I said I didn't like the truck attention!)

Sad story, last week I went over a curb and smashed my passenger step bar. Lesson learned, if you buy a long ass wheel base truck, lower it, and put step bars on it, you don't have any ground clearance lol.
