"Buell service - $1 (Los lunas)
I have the program to upload custom race maps to any ecm. I also have the ability to rest the tps and afv values to make your bike run better. Due to the fact that harley davidson doesn't do any of this anymore i invested in my own program. I am will to travel to your bike to do any of these thing. Should only take a couple min to make your bike run way more powerful. Any questions email me or call/txt 3079556.

I love how he "invested in his own program."

sounds to me like he is just trying to help people out after he had a bad local harley experience, why does that make him a douche. and it says he inveSSSSSSSSSSSSted in his own program. meaning he probably bought the newer version of ecm spy and im sure he had to buy a cable.

I dunno, maybe I'm wrong and it wouldn't be the first time. I just know I'd rather teach someone to do it themselves than charge someone. Meh.

and for those that are wondering why my post above says inveSSSSSSted its because docs original post said "i love how he invented his own program" before he realized he made a mistake and ninja edited the post.

Well then why dont you post up on your local craigslist and advertise your willing to drive to other peoples location and teach them to work on their bike with your equipment for free. That would certainly change my new opinion of you.

I'm not the one posting on craigslist expecting payment while misleading individuals on how I "Invested" in program that you can get for free. After all the is advertising an increase in power (amazingly) by utilizing tools you can get for free...
Feel free to judge me for correcting a post...you're so magnificent.

Im assuming he has ecm spy mono...which is not free so yes that would be an investment. And it wasn't simply fixing an error in your typing. You read it wrong and were trying to ridicule him for claiming to invent a program. Its okay to be wrong once and a while. I agree the "way more powerful" is a bit misleading.
But you dont even know how much he is charging do you? I dont see it in the post. It could be very reasonable, he even says it doesnt take long to do. Doesnt seem like a justified attack on the guy IMO.

I understand that ECMSPY Mono costs money. But do you have to have ECMSPY Mono to do anything he's listed in his ad? That's false advertising yes? I'm not trying to attack the individual, I just think he wrote a relatively misleading add.

Ohh and if someone decided to be picky, he's also violating the license if he actually did pay for it:
4.3 The Licensee may not rent, lease, sub-license, sell, assign or otherwise transfer the Software to any other person or permit other individuals to use the Software without the prior written consent of the Licensor.
http://www.ecmspy.com/cgi-bin/eula.cgi
So yes, someone who uses Software in an unethical manner, who also fails to advise their "customers" that what they're doing could be done for free should they learn to do it...I guess I would consider that a douche.

Just because you can do something with a cheaper product, does not mean it's false advertising if he claims he invested in his program. Even if he has the free software, he still had to buy the cable or parts, which costs money and is an investment.
His claim of being capable to make a bike run "way more powerful" isn't exactly false advertising either. If someone's AFV or TPS is waaay off, a simple reset will make the bike "way more powerful".
The licensee does not rent, lease, sub-license, sell, assign or otherwise transfer the software. He says he will do it; therefore he is well within his license agreement.
Why are you so dead-set against this guy?

Some people are afraid of the technical side and would rather pay somebody for their time and services than doing it on there own. I posted on c list too. I advertised Buell Tuning services. I was willing to help data-log as well as simply burn new maps for people. That doesn't make me a ****in douche either. Get off his ass and off yours too. Go ride your bike and be thankful.

I tell you what, I'll forfeit on this one. Obviously the community thinks what this guy is doing is fine.
But for what it's worth, he's utilizing a private software to make a monetary gain, which could be considered commercial use which is still against the license.

Well, then tell that to the sponsor tuners here. They're doing the exact same thing, I have no issues with what they do, I actually applaud it.
We all use the tools available for the job. I fix computers on the side occasionally, guess what? I use someone else's software to fix virus problems on windows boxes. I didn't write my own software, I'm not good enough (and don't have enough time) to do so. I use what's available to me and I CHARGE people a fee ($75/hour) to fix their broken ****.

Ok i agree with Doc on this one. You guys can assume all you want this guy is doing a solid service, but we know hes not. A "custom race map" would take a long time and exceptional skill. A race map and a custom tune are by far different. So really the guys ad suggest hes simply going to upload a Copy of a Buell race map or some other **** map from the internet, reset everything and pretend he did a good job... Also to any ECM? So what about my 08? I know he could be using mono but i believe even tuniversity uses tunerpro for the 08-10 setups. Think you guys are really stretching to give this guy the benefit of the doubt.

or he could have the stuff for all bikes and the skills to tune he may even have a portable dyno and can tune your bike better anyone else but is also a craigslist killer that keeps body parts in the fridge for snacks and the bike tune is a ploy.[confused]

lol Ank.
I can understand blowing out of proportion to that point. I guess for me I was just thinking about two things...1) the ethical side of it and a lot of that is influenced by 2)my experiences with other motorcyclists.
I know here locally the Buell riders look out for one another and are closer than some families, so I guess the ad came across as more of a situation where someone is taking advantage of someone with less knowledge on the subject matter.
Dean, I've heard nothing but good things about you and from what I can tell you put out a quality product. The software side of it is really dependent on the license that accompanies it. You can be a perfectly good person and violate a license yes...it doesn't make you a bad person but it does make the action unethical. Then again licenses vary so you could very well provide the same service with different software and be acting ethically from start to finish. It's more directed at the action than the person.
I'll admit there are a lot of details that are unknown in situations such as this one.
I'll also admit that I guess calling him a douche was harsh(based on the reception it's gotten here). I'd relate it more like calling someone a prude as compared to calling someone a b*tch. Apparently some consider it more of an insult than I.

a craigslist killer that keeps body parts in the fridge for snacksHaha, funny and true!
Seriously, there's burglars out there that respond to CL ads just to scope out your house & get a sense of when you're at work. I've gotten in the habit of meeting CL buyers & sellers in public places, and telling them I work from home.
