I'm glad people are finally painting their Buells! I am a painter, and I painted mine a few years ago, and am in the process of painting it again right now. I was getting bored with the old paintjob. Here's a few pics of my old paintjob. I'll repost after I'm done with the new one. I am going to buy a few sets of plastics to paint and sell. Like a bolt on custom bike! I will probably charge a core charge for the plastics, then after you get your new plastics, send me your old ones, and I'll refund the core charge. Tell me what you think of that idea, and if you are interested. Lets post nothing but custom painted buell xbs to this thread, I want to see what's out there.

You should sell your plastics or trade them for some stock ones, a nice paint job like that should not be covered up.

I know, I thought of doing the core trading thing after I had already primed over them. I am trying to decide weather I want to paint to order, or if I should just do some cool paintjobs, and then sell them. It's a lot easier to translate my ideas onto the bike than someone else's. People may know what they want, but have no idea how to relay those ideas to a painter!

Paint a few and put them up for sale. Once you get some sold and start getting your work out there then people will want custom paint and you can start doing it then.

You could just do cool paint jobs and ebay them or sell them on the web boards. You do a nice job, no reason you should not make some coin off it. You would not have to do a lot just be creative and wait till it sells then do another one. Or just run your paint job on your bike for awhile until you get tired of it then trade it for a stock set and some money and do it again. Any case nice job and cant wait to see the next job.

Just one idea for you. I noticed that Buellers and I may not be speaking for everyone but I think the old school designs like 2 tones, flames, and stuff that's ghosted would be a hit among the buell community. What do you guys think? Throw some ideas into this guys creative and very talented mind.

I have a black 03 XB9S Lightning and I was thinking about some cool paint job for the future. My idea was to get something like "terminator style", you know some industrial style, bio-mechanical robot-transformers graphics. I think this design would be great fit for Lightnings.

Thanks for the input guys! I agree with CRU about the old school style of graphics. I don't ride a Buell to be the fastest thing on the road, but rather to have the combination of classic American thunder and brilliant engineering innovation. I feel that the paint should go along with that theme. I flamed my bike initially because Eric Buell made almost a perfect sport bike, but I felt that a "Firebolt", Should have some Fire! Thanks again for the input. If anyone knows where I can get some sets of plastics for a good price, post me a link.

Hair dryer and some fishing string(use it like a saw, going back and forth) will get the letters off.

Then some Goo-Gone to ge the sticky stuff off, or some Bug and Tar remover.
