I'm checking out a XB12Stt next week. This looks super useful:
http://www.bcrider.com/DDFI.html

But while it says how to interpret the different trouble codes, it doesn't say what will happen if there's no trouble!

What will be shown if you jump the diagnostic port and everything is ok?

Really?

There will be no trouble code if there isnt a check engine light.

^^^ what jesse said. with run switch in off position, turn ignition key on and let needles sweep. then turn run switch to on. if all in good order the fuel system will load and the CEL (dash light with V-twin logo on the lense) will illuminate for several seconds then turn off. your pre-flight is completed and you're cleared for takeoff.

Oh. Heh.

So to state the obvious, you only need to jump the diag port and read the code if the check engine light is illuminated during normal running. Right?

(I also found the answer to my stupid question: Apparently if there is no trouble code and you go through the bother of dumping the diag port you'll get the fast flashes described at that link, but no other flashes.)
