I'm happy to announce that with the help of danvanceracing.com I have pioneered the first true big bore XB throttle body. If you have kept up with my bike build thread, you know that I recently had my xb12 engine fully "rodded" including race heads, cams, bored to 1500cc. Naturally, when you dramatically increase the displacement of an engine as well as flow requirements to support more power, you need a bigger throttle body.

I went in search for a boring service and was shocked that NOBODY did this for the XB platform. There also were no aftermarket options. So I convinced Dan to take on the project. The end product is beautifully done. Quality of craftsmanship is superb. Not only is the main bore larger but the runners are fully ported as well.

The stock XB12 TB has a 49mm opening. Dan is able to open it up to a max of 53.5mm as well as open up the runners to 1.725 and he blends the transitions. Anybody sinking $ into a big bore kit or engine work will benefit from a bored and ported TB. He is able to perform this service on both generations of the XB TBs.

Awesome! Is it actually bored larger or just tapered? i.e., is the butterfly larger? What's the cost if you don't mind me asking?

snrusnak: The entire main body is bored (from opening to the transition as are each runner (if requested) and the transition is hand ported/blended. I had my race CNC heads opened up to the max on the intake and exhaust ports and so had the TB ported to mach. It would not be of any benefit to port the runners if your heads are not also ported to match just FYI.

He is charging his standard rate for TB porting which is listed on his website. I think a bit over $300 which is extremely reasonable given the time investment on his end.

Thanks for posting this info. I know these TB's are more difficult/expensive to work over due to the split in the runners to each cylinder. That's not too bad of a price at all.

This looks really nice. It IS a chunk of change, but like you said....it is a lot of time as I am aware. And...if you have enough money in the engine to actually USE this mod, in the grand scheme of things, it isn't much at all!

why is this idiot still allowed to post on the board?
Cheap entertainment?! :D
