Picked up my XB12STT!

It has a new Drummer and a K&N, but is running the stock ECM mapping. Obviously that needs to change.

Can anyone recommend a good map for this XB12 config?

I may dyno tune later, but it would be nice to have a reasonable map to start from.

Hey I've got a '07 XB12STT with K&N, wide open airbox, and D&D exhaust. I've been running the Buell race map fuel/timing tables through ECMspy. My AFV is right at 100 (which is were you want it ideally), I'm at sea level and the temps were 80 degrees when I was testing running 91 octane here in CA. My bike was actually pulling out a bit of fuel before I opened up the inner airbox, I also have a showyomoto outer air box. You might want to start with the race tune first.

Or you could try this tune 2009 XB12 Custom Map D&D , I've downloaded it but have not tried it out yet as my setup seems almost perfect right now. If you need ECMspy or any instructions on tuning (tuning guide 2.0) they are all downloadable from that site as well.

You will want to tune with ECMspy if your bike is 07 or older and TunerPro RT if it is 08 or newer. If you don't already know ECMspy I would say learn with TunerPro as I hear its easier if you are going to datalog and fine tune etc...

Hence my question to the OP. ;)

Alternatively, you could purchase an ECM from Erik Buell Racing. [up]

Well I can vouch for the map Lowkey linked to. Hmmm, looks familiar. LOL. I tuned it with a WB on the rear cylinder, opened airbox, K&N filter, free flowing muffler. Currently I am playing with running a narrowed closed loop at cruise and open everywhere else. WB took a crap on me so on hiatus until I replace it.

Sorry about that guys, the XB12STT is a 2007 and I'm planning to tune with a registered copy of EcmSpy 2.

That's awesome to know who's tune that is and more detailed info about it. Did you datalog tune or dyno tune that? What type of gas/temps/elevation/AFR's? If you do any updates to it in the future please PM me on this forum, we are almost running identical setups on the bike.

That's data logged with a wideband over several months of tweaking. 500 feet above sea level. Temps range from 50s to 90s. Average humidity. Flat terrain in Ohio. Running Sunoco 94 fuel. Stock timing. That was an open loop map locked out at 100% AFR and each cell adjusted to my desired AFR. It's a rich map so no risk of detonation and ran awesome on it. I didn't buy my bike for fuel economy, I didn't track it, but I'm sure it probably went down running richer obviously. Bike also ran much cooler with the richer map and right side scoop.

Currently I am all over the place with my new map. Changing idle speeds, closed loop regions, etc. I am shooting for closed loop at cruise rpm/tps to maintain fuel economy. Need to replace my wb before I can do any more datalogging. Also plan on welding in a front bung too.

Lawdog, that's good info. When you say 100%AFR did you mean the AFV was locked to 100%? Also did you wire in the wideband to the bike so it reads AFR's still like the stock narrowband? What is your target AFR that you tuned for 13.1? The best gas I can get here is 91 octane with up to 10% ethanol added so It would be a long way off your 94 I think. I use the fan as an indicator that my fueling is cooling the cylinders enough as I never have it come on until I shut the bike down or lots of stop and go traffic. If I'm running the bike hard, even in hot weather my fan doesn't kick on really at all. I too have the right side scoop which helps for sure. As for mileage I have seen consistent 49-51mpg no matter the conditions I run the bike, which is right around what they were projected to get right? Are you running the NGK iridium heat range 9 plugs? Maybe you are running a fouled plug from being rich?
